I am still trying to get my wife to let me have an R/C. I had picked one out but she had a fit about it. So I am trying to find a R/C that will appease the wife on what she is saying is the reason she won't let me purchase the Slash.
So my question now is this. What does everyone think of this R/C? I am providing the link to it, but it is the Traxxas Rustler that I am looking at now. What is everyones opinion of this one? Is it to far advanced for a beginner?

She said to spend 200.00 for the Slash was way to much money. I am trying to drop down the price to see if she will go for this number instead LOL

I believe the Rustler is a commonly recommended rig for beginners and it's at a decent price. Tell her there are nitro powered (and some brushless electric) ones that cost several hundred dollars. So by getting the Slash you are actually saving some money..... LOL

If she's like my wife, it won't work but it's worth a try.

Not too bad considering you get the battery and charger with it.

Maybe your wife and mine are related LOL

Yeah, WoodiE was the one to get me thinking about the Stampeded and then I saw the Rustler. SO I wanted to find out what everyones thoughts are on the Rustler. I am not sure which one I want to go to the wife with to see if she will let me get one of the two LOL. I do like the charger also!

Honestly if your on a tight budget, electric would be the way to go. If your planing on doing allot of running it'll save you money in the long run. With Nitro you have fuel costs and that alone is around $30 a gallon depending on the brand you get, with electric it's simply plug it in and charge the battery. I personally spend on average about $50 every 2 weeks on my nitro. That's with fuel, repairs, hop-ups, ect.

You know, Holton isn't THAT close to KC but you might be onto something. LOL Just tell her how it'll give you something to do and keep you from messing up the house and bothering her all the time.

Well, I have some news from the front line....I spoke to my wife this morning and she looked me in the eye and said....

I GET TO GET THE SLASH!!! Yes!!!

I love my wife!!

So R/C friends, I will be joining the ranks of the addicted and posting pictures when I have it in hand and a camera in the other! LOL

Sweet, presistance pays off. Once they know we won't stop until we get what we want, that usually convinces my wife....LOL

Awesome! Welcome to the addiction! I think you'll be very happy with the Slash. I haven't got mine yet (err, the ladies) but I can't wait to get it payed off. If it wasn't for needing a better mill for the track, I'd have it today.

Is that a NEED or just a want? LOL

Well....that's a loaded question, lol. I'm a tad off from what everyone else is running and thus at a little bit of a disadvantage. My Tiger .15x seems to have the top end for the straights, but I'm lacking in the torque end for the acceleration. I just bought a Associated torque tuned pipe to try and help that. I'll actually know for sure tomorrow when I run in my very first actual race. So, to answer your question...both, LOL.
