Well guys, i can now say i've raced my tc3. Lol, well it started out with me being like 10 minutes late because of traffic and last minute things that came up. As soon as I got there, I got registered and threw on some traction compound.

They were running two qualiftying heats and then the mains.

I was on race #3 in the n00b class. For the first qualifying, I did alright. I managed to keep up with some of the people, but I didn't have enough traction compound and was sliding quite a bit, not to mention my diffs were set too lose IMO. Anyhoo I finished second to last...only because someone broke.

Well, for the second qualifier, I think I did worse. I'm pretty sure the diffs loosened up a bit between heats so I was really not running good, but whatever. I was starting to have some problems with my motor, it wasn't making power like it should have, so that was annoying. Anyhoo, I was getting passed by like two car halfway through the race and go t-boned and broke a steering thingie. So I was out on that heat.

Unfortunately, I had 3 dollars and the part I needed costed $10, So I was out for good. But I had a blast. I'm gonna save for the part I need and also a new motor that's $35. So in a few weeks i'll be able to run again.

I'm pretty sure if I can get my setup right on my car, i'll be able to have a better chance and not placing dead last. Hopefully i'll make it past qualifying...lol

the lack of maintenace and set-up is a common mistake, It happened the same to me in my first races, now I expend at least 3 hours checking everything before a race, that doesn't ensures me to win but now I finish the races, my better score till now is a 7th place out of 36, lets see what happen next week. Keep on trying, I'm sure you will do better next time, good luck:thumbup:

Until some bonehead runs you into a cinder block! lol

Hey Kwong - I have to give you a lot of credit, even for making this post. You know, owned ?!?!?

Racing on a track is indeed a very humbling experience. Puts a whole new light on 'finishing' doesn't it? Stick with it man. Racing is a blast. I'm still hitting up the indoor electric TC races here and am learning a lot.

If your traction is that bad, 2 things I suggest doing are:

Find out what tires the guys at the track are running. Chances are they will almost all be running 1 kind. And that will be because that is what works for the track.

Second, find out the general rule of thumber for caster, camber, toe in etc.. They will all almost all be around the same. Yeah, you may have 1 or 2 guys way out in left field, but go with the general consensus. It will give you a great starting point.

Ride height is key too! And most of the time, the guys running foams, are having the tires turned down to get the ride height they have.

Hope this helps.

Well I was running the same setup I did when I practiced a weekend ago. I mean, the EXACT same setup, minus the ball diffs since they said mine were a little on the tight side. That's why I had them real lose.

But when I was running the car practicing the week before, it was glued, no understeer or oversteer, just perfect. You could hardly get the car in a bad situation at all.

But i'll tell you one thing, when you're running with a bunch of other people, it takes a lot more concentration then just practicing. Those 4 minute qualifiers seemed like a lifetime...lol

hey kwong....I too ran my first race friday night ! since there wasn't many people showing up there was 6 cars in the stock class so we ran 3 -8 minute qual's and one main.

I qualifyed 3rd in all 3 qual's and in the main i started and finished 3rd! So not too bad i feel i could have gotten second but a few mistakes by me and a couple of other drivers played the roll. but all in all it was awsome and i did pretty good for my first time out.

At least u finished the race. Alot of new racers don't get to finish.

I start my race season tomorrow.
