Nice. Can you show a photo from the front showing the standing ride-height?
Is hard for me to get a good angle on it with this ginormous bumper

That looks pretty good. I'd test it out and see how it runs. From there, you'll need to ponder as to what level of crawling performance you would like to see from the Basecamp.

Are the back tires really bigger? Or is that just an optical illusion caused by the dirt on the rear tires?
it was an illusion lol

Wow bro your rig crawls amazing! Do you have any with your base camp on those rocks? I subbed to your channel and look forward to learning more about the hobby so I can build something that capable

Till then here's the camp a little on the course
It's basically stock
Other than motor esc and tires
All of the parts I've replaced have been axial parts
Gotta start adding some weight down low
Looking at maybe brass portals?
I am not sure where we want to start on making it more capable

Glad you like the builds. I don't have may videos of it yet, but I will get some done this early fall.

I think the Basecamp is an excellent truck to do a "first build", learning the details of truck setup. From there, you can decide if you want to start with something more purpose built, like the Vanquish VRD series. The Vanquish is pretty much turn-key ready to go, so the enjoyment is there but you won't go through a learning curve like you will the Basecamp.

I'm trying to talk Woodie into working with us on a Basecamp build series and then raffling it off here. Would help get traffic to our MVRCA site as well as grow this site. Show you guys all the little tricks to get the most out of that build.

Things to consider in order of importance:

1. Tires
2. Foams
3. Suspension setup
4. Weight distribution.

From there you can start adding in weights, but I would really think hard about how much you want to invest in the Basecamp. It's easy to drop $300 to $400 into that truck, and you can get a new VRD stance for almost the same price. I don't think the Basecamp is properly suited as a money pit, so a conservative approach is idea.

I'd love to walk you guys through a Basecamp build, and then show the performance on our rock. I just don't want to fund a second Basecamp.

Dumb question, but would you guys rather have a video series or read about it with pictures as with other projects on our site?

I'm open to comments and ideas.

we got light bars for the Roctober event. we are gonna hit the night runs this time. we tried them out and holy cow they are bright.
was sad it barely fit the base camp. and wouldnt fit the Old man, BUT the second one DID fit the F450, so thats pretty cool. going to order ra size smaller for the Old man next week. taking it for a trail walk with my son today. hopefully we are able to make the whole trail this time lol
we always have something break and end up packing broken stuff out lol.

Let there be light!!! 😍

Some underbody lighting to light up uour tries might be helpful too.

But let's see some lights shining.
i rally dig those yeah but I'm at my limit for my reciever on stuff, ill have to order some stuff before i can get to that
love the idea tho

You may be able to use a y-splitter for the servo cable and add an extra set of lights. There are also light controllers that you can plug a bunch of lights into and control it with a channel on the Rx.

so the bumper i ordered was for an sxc10 it ALMOST fits the ecto but not quite. id have to drill out chasis rails and i dont want to mess with that at this point. i realized i HAVE an sxc10 so threw it on the basecamp. YEET!!!!
I threw an old battery i found in trash pile on the trailer and started dragging it around> the batt weighs about 12 -14 LBS. much more than i will typically be pulling as this is PRIMARILY a drink caddy using something like this fastened to the bed of the trailer.
the ecto has much more weight in the front and overdrive and the camp is basically stock other than the quickrun fusion and tires.
i definately need a little more weight in the front, as it was pulling it kept trying to lift the front end reducing my traction. grrrr.

leaning towards this for the basecamp. just knock out a bunch at one time? but i dunno as it has zero reviews,
id spend half of that on just portal axle covers and a pumpkin.

I also decided it wants to be a dually.
Swapped the rear shocks for the element shocks that were on the ecto as they were MUCH better.
It looks cool and I'm trying to figure out which commectovo need to get for the power for it.
Wish I could just throw it It's own battery tbh but I thobl I tried it and failed lol

They make light controllers that run off 2s lipo. 🫠

so we made a decision today. we soldered the ess dual sound box into the basecamp. its noiw a semi permanant fixture in my sons truck. i loved the thing. in short doses. its neat and all dont get me wrong but honestly is just got to where it was more annoying than anything else so it got bounced around to some of the rcs that get driven less than others. but my son loves it so i threw it in the camp. but it has a T stlye plug. his camp has a deans.
so i pulled the shroud off the esc battery connector and stripped em back a little then i wrapped the ess wires around the current +/- wires and soldered em on then slid shroud back down over it. since I'm using a more appropriate tip it soldered instantly and perfectly, ( well perfectly for my skill level lol) i noticed in a zoomed in pic that a wire or 2 had escaped the solder. no worries i went over it again. it is completely coated and not going to cause a short.
he loves it, and his light is TOO GD bright. ugh blinds you when you see it. gonna be a jerk at the Rocktober event during the night runs lol.

need to add some weight to the camp in a major way! otherwise I'm pretty happy with its pulling power at this point.
bodies on its way and think i may have decided on a paint. we gotta get an airbrush but i think this ones gonna be cans just cause i dont think ima want to wait a week to get the airbrush... strggle bus over these parts

drove the base camp down to the gas station to pick up a case of pop, truck and trailer neither one cared about the weight, it carried 2 18 packs in the other night so I'm sort of considering that as my max load weight

also got the portal covers in today
so stoked as my son was hella excited this time to throw 2 of them on himself, makes it feel more like his own truck
we have a paint job upcoming, waiting on body should all be here by friday hopefully. then grabbing a few more parts for it to hopefully keep that front end on the ground,
eyeballing a few things for the old man possibly as well
the we swapped wheels out for the set of prolines i had on shelf wasting away, those tires were badass on the ecto so oping for similar results from the camp.
