So, when does your son get his basecamp back? 🤣
i asked him if he wanted to go but he says i work too much on the course and he gets bored and its too hot
lol so basically i just get the ok from him before i change things, hes on board with most changes as long as he gets to slap stickers on the body lol.
best gift I've gotten him lol i love it

man this basecamp was such a beast! was because its got a broken front axle now lol.
just the tab that hold the panhard link connects to. its just hanging free now, so when we turn the body turns instead of the wheels. looking like a triple digit fix unless i want to swap it out for other inferior parts. thinking we should just jump up to aluminum axles and not worry about it again.

Maijin Jr. is doing hella good on the course, give him a high five for me! :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: Sucks about the broken part. :( You might want to make a path with the weed whacker.

I broke the same mount on my Basecamp. I'll swap out the axles at some point. Dollar for dollar, that little Basecamp is pretty darn good.

a new factory axle housing was under ten bucks, i went that route for now, really want to get a set of aluminum axles for it but isnt in the cards right now

Got some new rims for the base camp
Broke a screw in half while putting them together
Sigh.... it wouldn't be mine if it weren't broke lol

After looking at these pics I realized the back tires are larger than the front
I thought I grabbed a matched set 😬 šŸ˜› 🤪
I'll fix it later lol

Maybe you can put the two bigger tires on one side and do some oval track crawling. 😜
think i may find other bogger set and make it a dually, but sadly vegeta didnt like how it looked when it had the dualies on it, i got so many tires... all the same kind wtf was i doing lol

Like father Like son lol
He's just like his dad
Turned my back for 5 seconds and he said oops uh oh
Lolol he somehow cracked the axle open and broke the c hub
He didn't even try the bridge yet
Poor guy he's sad
Told him it's OK cause now we got something to fix which is half the fun
Think I got him excited to wrench in it but man is it gonna be a test of my patience lolol

I think he got a wheel stuck in a rock crevice and tried to full throttle his way out and probably hit a jag on a rock
My guess anyways
HE says he was just driving straight lolol mmmhmmmm

Yep, he done good! 🤣

With the servo mounted the middle of the chassis, you are putting more stress on the steering linkage as the suspension moves through it's cycle. Ideally you want the servo drag link as close to the same length as the panhard link as possible. This is accomplished by mounting the servo as far away from the connecting knuckle as possible.

Now that you mention it
I forgot I had to reposition the servo as I swapped it out in the field and didn't have a dremel
I didntneven consider that it was adding stress to the rig
When I get a new axle I'm definitely going to take a look at fixing.this
Thanks bro!

Got another question for you; did you re-calibrate your endpoints on the servo? Easy step to miss in the field after repairs.

s
o yeah i calibrate those fellas when i swap out servos

Got the stuff in for the base camp
While I had the front apart I heavily greased the front axle
And I also put the servo back where it was originally at
This brought an issue
I forgot I had gotten a shorter servo link?
( The bar that connects the servo to the wheels)
The link from the ecto was long enough so I'm using it until I get the correct part in some time next week or soon
Gonna hopefully conquer the course with it soon

My son picked out a body and is looking at paints to pick on a color scheme.
