Good for the mom - but too bad she can't afford to take him to Singapore for a good ol' fashioned caning!

I would have pulled out the old 5lb sledge and smashed it right in front of him! You want here ya go, have fun, maybe you can get a new one NEXT year for christmas.

I'm with NC... I would have either smashed it to pieces, or given it to a sibling instead.... or better yet.... make him donate it to Toys for Tots... having him deliver it personally.

Don't know about the arrest part. But you can be damn sure the kid wouldn't get a speck for Christmas or his birthday.

I would have let the kid open it for X-Mass then promptly take him to a homeless shelter and give it to a kid that has nothing along with the rest of his gifts.

The jail part is a call only the mom can make. Its her kid and should be able to deal with it as she sees fit without the rest of the world telling her what she should or shouldn't do.

Its her kid and we should believe that she knows whats best for him. Sounds like a good way to show him the reality of this cold cruel world. Better then tossing him off the pier at fisherman's wharf to be with Dog.

That's essentially what I'm thinking as well, Ed. It may seem extreme to some people, but we don't deal with it every day like she does. My son is ADHD and there have been days where I've been pretty close to, at the very least, driving him over to the county jail and explain that if the lying didn't stop, that is where he'd end up. I've had friends of mine tell me I shouldn't hold my boy accountable for his actions because of his ADHD. I tell them that's a load of bull! Just because he's ADHD doesn't mean he doesn't know right from wrong, a lie from the truth!

Hopefully it works out for the best in the end!

the kid sounds like he's got issues...at 12 you know you don't punch a police officer....and everyone said he always gets what he wants one way or another.....sounds like a spoiled kid to me.....teach him a lesson now before you can't anymore....

MW I'm sure you feel this way but you need to tell your friends to go to hell when they say that crap.....ADHD or ADD or freakin AIDS ( not saying they are ANYTHING alike just using acronyms freely) whatever your condition is it will always be your responsibility to deal with it and the earlier people learn that they better off they are in life.....

Didn't something like this happen last year too? I remember reading a story about a kid who found his presents and opened them all. His dad found out and sold every one of them on Ebay.
