Glow plug

After looking closely at the plugs the long traxxas plug has 6 clear, full, threads. My Regular Odonnell's 77s and 99s have 5 threads. My OS 8s have 4 threads.

ERCM is right too though.

Insane that we will all take the time to accually count threads on a glow plug :) yes the Traxxas plug has 7 threads at the longest point LOL. In an attempt to justify our points. the glow plugs with less threads will have a thinner shim. Thinner shim will compress less and provide a better seal ;)

Turbo plugs have no shim at all than use the taper of the seat they sit in to seal the combustion chamber. Turbo Plug engines have a higher compression ratio and higher HP.

What ERCM did not tell you about is Idle Bars they are mostly used in Airplane engines sure they may fit into the an On/Off road engine dome without hitting the pistion but are mostly used in big block airplane engines that have lots of air flow on them so they do not stall. the cooling heads on an airplane engine are very small. i will not go into boat engines that are water cooled because they have no air flow at all. Just say that the prop on a boat engine will force water to the head to cool it. Yes I have 2 boats.

I have never seen an onroad or offroad engine manufacture suggest using an Idle Bar Glow plug in the winter time. They have always suggested cover the top portion of the head to reduce cooling than use a hot plug;)

^^^ wow dude, you just can't stand to be wrong, can ya.
I have used every kind of plug made. If it fit in the hole, in it went. I have NEVER had a problem with anything hitting/leaking, and yes sometimes the eng eould run bad other times it ran very good, the point is, if you need a plug use what you have untill you get correct one.
 
He never said you SHOULD use an idle bar. Where did ERCM say that? IF you think you know more about nitro engines than Robin does your have been sniffing too much nirto fumes. Robin was making a point that even though the plug says "Long" does not mean that it is going to hit the piston. Pull the head off of a engine. There is a dome above the piston. That dome gives plenty of room to keep even a "Two threads longer" Traxxas plug from hitting.

Its insane that the person who started counting threads on plugs in the first place is the guy bulking at people counting threads on plugs. After I counted threads on plugs i not only learned that the Traxxas plug is longer I even stated that fact confirming that you were indeed right that there is such a thing as a "long" glow plug but you couldnt leave it at that...

If you want to count the little trailing "half" thread at the bottom of the plug then yes you could say that the traxxas long plug has 7 threads...Then again I could also say that the Odonnells 77 has 6 threads and the O.S. 8 has 5 threads. I only counted full complete threads when I said 6, 5, and 4. Here is a CLEAR pic of the traxxas long plug (part number TRA3232X) taken from Amains website. There are only 6 complete full threads that I can see in that pic not 7.

not sure what your even basing that on but lets assume for the moment your right. How is that relevant to the length of glow plugs?

Again, not sure how thats relevant to the length of glow plugs. I guess if you impress us with your knowledge of glow plugs that we'll count that little hlaf thread at the bottom as the 7th thread?

i like to use Champion plugs in my Nitro, they work well with my NOS set up and my super charger!!!!!!! :seeing_stars:
 
You guys are just being mean. As said by a member here "you think is fun to torture people? Must ask why you allow abuse on this forum. Yea the fun and games all in good intention till someone gets mentally hurt." Don't Mentally hurt people....bad bad... you all should be ashamed of yourselves!
