Okay i just got my savage and stuck a supertigre 27 engine and so far i have gone through 4 plugs. What keeps happening is that the wire inside of the plug keeps like getting pulled out and all uncoiled. whats going on?:surrender

What fuel percentage are you using? Sounds like pre ignition? What plug are you using.....??

To start with I don't know the plug i have been using, I think traxxas and OS #8's. The fuel is 20% Traxxas with a little mix of blue thunder.

What plug does that engine call for???

I would be careful blending fuels....especially from different manufacturers.....it creates weird explosions and unreliable results.

Was the engine shimmed for 30% fuel at one time??

As you can see there a tons of variables with Nitro engines....any one of them can cause the issues you are describing.

on a savage 160cc tank i have got all of maybe 10 tanks through it. The engine was brand new right out of a duratrax warhead and the manual says it for 20% nitro. The first 2 tanks i ran with the stock plug and then it just burned out with the breaking in. then yesterday i ran about 3 tanks and had to replace the plug, then 2 tanks and now after one tank it has done it.

jeez sounds bad. os 8 sounds right for 20%. check that there is the washer and enough head shims. and maybe needle settings?

if there isnt enough shims, or gp is too far into the engine, it causes excessive compression (possible pre-ignition), and there a chance that the piston will hit it (although thats a little more serious).

which reminds me, how does everything else in the engine look? and this may sound silly, but you did take out the gp heater, right?

and make sure to clean the engine after the gp is worn. you dont want those in you engine. can make some nasty scratches in you engine.

Wow, you must have some pretty strange conditions. Funny thing is, I've never had a glow plug burn out on me (after breaking in 3 engines and running like 3 or 4 gallons on each)

It sounds like you either have an excessively lean condition or the compression is too high and it's detonating, which can basically destroy your engine if it goes on long enough.

Like hvymetal said, you could add another shim to the plug or buy a head shim and put it on the head.

If you haven't pulled the head off and cleaned the cylinder, there's always the possibility that you have a piece of another filament bouncing around and eventually hitting the good one. They are extremely fragile when they're hot.
