Getting started

I am getting ready to go into the airbrush side of this hobby and am looking for any and all advice on this topic. I am thinking of getting this kit right here for a beginner. http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/air-compressors/1-5-hp-58-psi-compressor-and-airbrush-kit-95630.html

So basically I have been looking for a how to on airbrushing but I can't find much so please help me. Thank you for any and all advice or criticism.

I use that airbrush with a similar compressor.

For tutorials check the stickies at the top of this section and there are also videos on YouTube.

I'm still kinda new at it nyself but will tell you that I started with a cheap setup (I think my wife spent $80 on a compressor and brush setup) and have since taken the advice of some great painters and picked up an Iwata brush - http://www.tcpglobal.com/airbrushdepot/irevo.aspx#IWA4247 and havenrt looked back. While I havent sprayed much with it yet I will say the higher quality brush the better paintjob. It gives amazing details the cheapo brush couldnt touch

well Ill start with the cheap airbrush and if I enjoy it then i will move on to a better airbrush. I am going to go look for some airbrush tutorials but any experiences or tips that you have please tell me them or show me were to find them. Thanks.

I learned some of the basics by painting on 2-liter bottles that cut open and washed. They're a lot cheaper than a bunch of lids.

Okay sounds good. Is there any cheap paint I can use for practice?

I just used the same paint that I would use on the actual lids. It's really not that expensive.

Okay. About how far will 2 oz go. Like one lid?

Typically a 2oz can will last as long as you want it to. If your doing 1 body with 1 color than it will go quickly vs spraying a little of the color over several bodies.
