how long do you let the engine idle with the glow plug heater on it because it seems like it dies when I take the hater off of the glow plug.

I take mine off right away. Souds like your LSN is too rich. Lean it 1/8 of a turn (clockwise) and you should be fine.

I usually leave mine on for a few seconds (maybe 5) after it starts, just to make sure it wont die on me. If you need it on for much more than that, id do what driver said and tweak that LSN.

I always give mine a lil quick throttle burst to clear it out....I run mine fairly rich on the low end I stall out more when I flip and don't get to it in time, but my engines last a long time because of it.....if I ever get serious into racing I'll be more performance oriented but for just bashing or running practices at the track I don't need to find out how close to POP I can get for a second or 2 less on a lap time.....you'll know if your fat on the LSN if you let it sit (after warming up) and it stalls out and makes bubbly sounds like it's drinking.....and you know if it's too rich if it screams and cuts out quick....at least that's how I tell....and I temp it for HSN then usually go 1 to 2 hrs richer (counter clockwise)....

I always give my engine a good blip on the throttle to get the engine cleared out, as stated above. That almost always works when i remember to do it. When i don't, it usually dies pretty quickly after i take the glow ignitor off. I always try to run my engines on the rich side so they will last longer.

Thanks for the help thats what I was thinking it was or something to do with the Idle screw cause it is spinning the wheels at idle and idling really fast when its cold do you ritchen the LSN or the HSN?

Richen up the LSN. Is your throttle trim bumped up? Check that after your richen the LSN and then you may need to adjust your idle stop screw. BTW, greetings, I used to live in Springfield (Chatham actually) about 8 years ago.

cool thats where I went to HS and where my g/f lives I just wish that it would warm up a littler here b/c from what I have read and done 40 is just too cold for these engines can anyone elaborate on the idle stop screw and how it works, and when I post this I will be using the search function

If its too cold, you can put some aluminum foil around the head to insulate it, or a sock.

i drive my car in a small circle with the glow igniter on just to warm up the engine a little bit before i take it off. it always works and my motor never stalls on me.

thats what I did the circle thing but then it would die and then I did the aluminum foil and it FINALLY got warmed up and then it died R.I.P.

one other ? when you lift the car off of the ground should the wheels spin at all at an idle I know it is NOT supposed to roll forward but I was wondering about when it was off the ground

My wheels dont spin. You may want to close the idel screw just a TAD bit, not too much.

I get very little rotation at idle with the wheels off. You could try a sock around the head or even an inner tube from a bicycle tire if it's really cold. Does your radio have a throttle trim? Don't forget to check it too.

I worked at Garrett when I lived there.

k I leaned out the idle screw but it keeps dying the muffler/exhaust was full of un burnt fuel so I kept leaning it out but it kept dying does this have somthing to do with the idle screw or what

You dont "lean" the idle screw. You open or close it. The idle screw regulates the air comming into the carb. This should only be open about the width of a credit card.

ok well that helps so I need to turn it clockwise, which is what I have been doing, but It keeps dying when I take the glow heater off of it
