I'm a little disappointed that you used Traxxas parts on you Traxxas build but otherwise, not bad! 🤣

Cool idea, fun build, great results on an almost unTraxxas! 😎
had i been thinking i would have used AE turnbuckles (a modified set of RC10T turnbuckles) and ballstuds and RPM ball cups. that would have eliminated the traxxas turnbuckles. and i still might do that at some point. what stopped me was i had bought the RPM rod ends and there for the bigger traxxas turnbuckles. rather than return them i just used them. idk wtf i was thinking. hopefully those big ass aluminum turnbuckles hold up.
i also could have gotten a carbon fiber double decker chassis but it was $120 and the stock black chassis was under $20. made a pimp decision on that one.
i couldn't find a diff that would fit the RPM case. i tried the Drag Race Concepts diff but it's to wide. i had to shave the inner race of the bearings to make it fit. and i did do that and had it in there, i just questioned the durability and broke down and bought a stock diff.
the top shaft in the gearbox i could have modified a Drag Race Concepts shaft. i bought 2. 1 was to short (it's for eliminating the slipper) and the other was i think to long and the hole the pin goes though for the slipper was in the wrong place. i could have modified it, but again, i had durability concerns.
the front axles, nobody but traxxas makes those damn things. you can find some that aren't branded as traxxas but there $7+. i had thought about making my own on the lathe at work, but it wasn't worth the hassle when the stock ones are $3.
i got as close as reasonable practicality would allow.

Rustler's always a fun build. Nicely turned out. Trenchers are a good all-around choice for a tire. -AC
this is my first rodeo with Trenchers. i used to run Gladiator 2's on the rear of my stadium trucks but they don't make those anymore.
always run ribs on the front of my ST's as well. but with this truck being able to swap fronts and rears i went with Trenchers on the front as well. hopefully they work up there. i haven't driven the truck enough to know yet.

Yeah, SCT 2.2/3.0 Glad's are to go-to tire on my grass track Rustler. P-L doesn't offer them anymore? Too bad. Great tire in the grass. -AC
last i checked they weren't making them in 2.2 stadium truck size.

Have you had a chance to get a feel for the Trenches of the front end?
I have a full set for my Rustler too, I built my Rustler with RPM offset slash front and slash rear arms so its only a little wider than stock and I can rotate tires front to rear. Also I like that fade job.

nope, so far iv only driven the truck enough to diel in the steering trim and adjust the slipper clutch. i need to connect the ESC to my laptop and dial in the brakes. the 3PV radio feels like it lacks brake throw so the brakes suck. until i do that i don't want to drive it. i might do that tomorrow, iv got 3 fresh builds right now that i haven't really driven and this is a 3 day weekend so...

Time for a aluminum horn 😉

Wanna trade and see how durable my modern rusty is? 🙂🤔
aluminum horn on order, it'll be here Friday (supposedly) and if i don't like it it's your fault cause i ordered one you posted the link for.

95% of the plastic on my truck is RPM, no way in hell a modern stocker is as durable so ill pass.

one thing i noticed about this truck is the turning radius sucks. it's nowhere near as tight as any of my other stadium trucks (RC10T, RC10T3, XXXT, or hell even the Kyosho Stadium Baja). after i get the aluminum horn on there i may need to look at it again...

Just make sure you redo the threads on the top hole on the horn bc stock it's meant for Losi thread pitch hardware not Traxxas.

Because I messed up one of those servo horns by not redoing the threads and the screw got stripped in the horn by cross threading.

Mine is also mostly rpm and aluminum here and there. My build video is on my YouTube channel on premier for next week 😉

Oh the horror of the Traxxas 😆

new Losi aluminum servo horn installed. oddly enough it was the exact same length as the broken plastic one so it was an easy bolt on deal. only thing i had to do was change the screw that holds the link on, its a 4-40 thread VS whateverthehell metric (and yes i used loctite).
i think i might mess with the steering at some point, there's room for more throw and the truck needs a tighter turning radius.

Glad ya got it fixed
Also good note on the thread. I just redid mine to use the hardware I have so thats nice for reference. 😉

The steering yea mine turns on the dime and is pretty tight so there's tons of potential with your steering.

from center to center on the rod end how long is the link between the servo and cranks? i think that's what my issue is.

Good question
I have no idea
I have all my stuff packed up but once I get down to the resort tomorrow for Vaca I'll see if I can measure it
Or maybe one of the Traxxas manuals for the turnbuckles might mention it not sure.
