Man what a bloody nightmare, my rig really has it in for me when it comes to comps.
My Spektrum DX6i gear had a hissy fit and decided it wouldn't pair up. Rebinding got me nowhere.
I borrowed a 3 Ch. reciever and my buddy Kevin's DX3R but I hate trigger sets, and I didn't get on with it very well.
I can't blame the gear though, after the panic over my radio gear and all that I wasn't really up to the stage and screwed it up. My steering endpoints weren't set on the borrowed handset (my stupid fault - should have checked em) so I hit a marker and had no steering hardly until Kev set them for me halfway round. My dumb-ass finger kept grabbing at the throttle - that landed me on my lid 3 or 4 times. To top it off my dig (which wasn't plugged in because we couldn't get it to work on the DX3R) disengaged at the end and I lost rear drive - had to take a repair to fix it - then I still didn't get over the last bit (which was a total PITA) to the 10th gate.
As if my error-strewn run wasn't bad enough, when I was setting the rig up for the second session (before it hammered it down with rain) my ESC cable snagged round the spur gear and the metal gears proceeded to munch the wiring.
Then as I was cutting and soldering that (badly, according to Darkfire) it hammered it down with rain and we couldn't carry on anyway. We got washed out.
Still, tons of guys offered help and advice, including 2 via phone. I wouldn't even have got it out on the course without all the help from the guys.
Do you wanna know something REALLY annoying? I took the batteries, which I charged last night, out of the DX6i, whacked em on my fast charger for an hour until it pinged, and my radio gear is now working fine. I think the cold in the back of the van on the way (never helps batteries perform) had done my batteries in and meant the transmitter signal was weak as dish water. It's the only way I can think that a good set of batteries that worked last thing last night and had done previously for over a month, in a warm house didn't work in a cold field today.
Rig's sat in my room working like a trooper now. Bloody typical!!! :\
Cest la Vis... or some crap like that
