I have to tell you, the HPI MT2 is one of my favorite cars, and I'll tell you why.
I bought this car for my son last year, and have to have at least 3 gallons through it.
It is one of the most user friendly cars on the market (in my opinion).
The frigging thing runs all day. Never loses tune, and is pretty tough.

I just got in from burning some nitro with my son at his school parking lot.
He had to burn about a quart before hitting a huge hole, knocking off the pipe coupler (I didn't have a zip tie handy).
Fixed in 1 minute, and will be ready to bash another day.

So thats why I love it. (for a kid). they can bash for hours at a time without a problem.

My brother and I have original Nitro MT's with Fantom FR15's, and they are a great truck! I can only imagine the mt2 is even better!

Ratzo, I agree too. While I love the Savage for its brute strength, our MT2 gets just as much use. They are two different trucks for two different types of bashing and are both good at what they do. My only gripe with the MT2 has been the steering knuckles stripping out. I just picked up some Hot Bodies aluminum ones, so that should be the end to my one and only MT2 problem...

send a link to a pic of one, if you don't mind. I am curious as to what it looks like.

i have heard some good things about em. Look nice too!

I wouldn't mind getting the 18ss version, but my son wants his next car to be the Kyosho tr15 buggy. (10th scale nitro buggy)
I guess he wants something different.
I've seen those go too.
They run all day long.

My friend has a MT2 18SS and loves it. Its a very fast truck and the only problem he ahs had was the stock gearins is off. it makes the truck go like 45mph, but its lacking in the low end, he changed out the gearing and the thing hauls. Its a great truck and doesn't handle bad at all with the HPI Sway bar set on.

i had the original mt and your right they are the poop ,very tunable and excellent bashers very rugged just wish i had mine back lol
but then i am looking into buying the new 18ss
it will be that or a 4.6 savy not sure yet i want a kit simply becasue i have never built 1 and i think they are cool
just my .02

my MT2 was amazing i crashed it,broke it culnt be arsed fixing it sold it 4 £130 and bought it bak the other week 4 £30!!!!!and it was repaired and running !!!

I also have the original MT. I bought it when it first hit my lhs a few yrs ago. I have atleast 5 gallons threw the stock engine and it still runs ! I used to beat the hell out of it and it would never break. Only problem is my son ( 2yr old) drove it directly into a tree then into a highway . Basically the car was totalled but i just bought a roller a few days ago with a new OS.18 . The MT will live again !

I'm not sure wefer to take the stock .15nitrostar out and buy the .18SS for it..........
only fing is the .18SS is £140 at my LHS !
