HI All, Just purchased my first RC Car, this being an FTX EVO30 in the UK. I just love the look of the E30 BMW, hence the purchase for my first RC car. I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread as the one I received seems to be dead on arrival. There are no lights or beeps from the ESC when powering on however there is steering when using the transmitter, just no throttle. I am not sure if I have just been unlucky or I am just being silly and there is an easy fix.

Dang. Well, can you return it? Or contact whoever you bought it from to see if they will send you a new ESC? If they will send you a new ESC, we can help with that.

Get us some pics of the wiring if you can.

Speaking with Customer service now, it is from a reputable company in the UK so hopefully i can return it or they can send a new ESC. Sending them a video now to see if that speeds up the process.

Hopefully, you can get things sorted out with your RC. A replacement would be great! I'd hate to see someone fall into a bad situation/experience right of the bat with their first RC vehicle.

That EVO30 looks like something I'd enjoy driving instead of lugging out my 1/8 scale street machine.

Thanks, I hope so too, was really trying to jump head first into the hobby so not the best experience so far haha.

Yeah, FTX isn't one of the main brands here in the US, but they do make some nice looking kits. Kinda like that Relaarlo brand. Another road car that I'd like to tinker with some day.

Hopefully CS gets you sorted out quickly so you can see how fun this hobby can be. You'll never forget your first lol.

But you did the best thing you could. You popped in here, where there are a bunch of folks that will help get you sorted out.

If you want to read a book about RC stuff, on all kinds of topics, check this thread out in your spare time.
Thread 'With an $800 budget , what would you get?' https://www.rctalk.com/forum/threads/with-an-800-budget-what-would-you-get.143480/

Warning: The starter of that thread was turned into an RC junkie by the guys here in like 10 minutes 😅

If you do get another car, you can get clear or painted e30s to put on another chassis. These are by hpi racing. Ebay has more I'm sure.

haha i'm sure it will get sorted! just want to get it out to try already but have to wait now. Yes the Rlaarlo was one of my other options I was debating as my first! cheers for the link, I will definitely take a look 😅

New HobbyWing ESC unit on the way now:)
Ok, well, time to tear it down. Get to know it a little bit and make sure there's nothing else needed to go with the swap.

Hi Mate, yup tried the above, cannot get to the red flashing ESC lights part (part B above) as there is no led whatsoever upon powering up :(
RTRs should be just that... "ready-to-run". All radio trims/EPAs adjusted and set for user; all screws fastened down; fluid levels correct, etc., etc., before leaving factory. Unfortunately, quality control has not been the best across all brands... some more so than others.
