Well after picking up a winters worth of dog crap I decided to paint a body I had sitting around for my vta car. The car a Barracuda, the paint Tamiya gun metal backed with Pactra white. First thing that went wrong, I didn't realize I forgot to put the window masks on until after the first coat. Second problem I thought my last layer had dried it hadn't, I accidentally touched the front fender/air dam and it left a fingerprint. I didn't notice until my last coat of backing, so it is a mix of gray and white in one spot. Other then that I think it turned out alright, oh and there bleeding on the windows the masks didn't stick to well. I really hope it turned out alright, we'll se tomorrow when it's dry.

Nothing to worry about if its your first paint job, weve all had those problems. Rushing for one is one of my biggest problems when painting, I get impatient. Just make a list so next time you remember to wash, mask, light coat, let dry, light coat, let dry, light coat, let dry, light coat, let dry, backing light coat and so on.

I also learned the hard way to burnish the edges of the window masks to prevent paint from bleeding.

I remember my first lid I did for my Traxxas Rustler, I used white and trans blue with a drip paint mask. Didnt care about drying as long as I could get it on my truck and running around within an hour.. Yeah, didnt work, everything ran, bled and mashed into one fked up final result. Patience is key along side with clean lexan and proper time to dry.

Yeah I did rush it, I was losing sunlight nd was doing it outside couldn't finish it tomorrow cause I want to run it at the track tomorrow. Well I guess that's being impatient, oh well its vta with lots of rubbing so I'm sure the body will be messed up decent by the end of the day. Next time I'm going to push a little harder on the edges of the window masks as well, I'm sure when I take them off later tonight it's going to look silly lol.
I did clean it real good, I think.
Oh and what paint to you guys prefer? I found the Pactra to spray better but it was hard to get an even coat, the tamiya seemed like it didn't want to come at all except when I first started spraying. It was spray for like 2 seconds then just aerosol, had to keep shaking it, I even had the cans in warm water about a 1/4 of the way up the can. The water stayed warm to it was 15*C when I was spraying.

Suds & water inside, proper dry time and always apply any kind of mask with SUPER clean hands.

I have also found that not putting your fingers on the edge of the masks when your peeling them off the paper but in the middle assures that the oil residue will not affect the stick around the edge. (If that makes sense lol)

LOL thanks Rolex. It's Tamiya gun metal backed with white, I want to think that the windows are gray tint. I think I'll start telling people that.

After seeing the ugly truckling I can't wait to see your mustang finished.
Next on the painting list the house as you can see in the background.
