I was finally able to get my MT 10 Rival yesterday. Made sure the hub nuts were tight, checked the gear mesh, (the best I knew how) and now I am charging a battery, to get a first run at lunch today. I will probably take it to the local shop this week, and have them look it over, check my ger mesh, diff fluid, and shock fluid, and see how she is doing. Wish me luck 🤣

Just took it out for a quick run. Seems to have some delay in the reverse gear, and when in reverse, it has almost a speed wobble action. Not sure what's causing that. But, scrapped the body all up, and got some dirt on her, and she seems to be handling it well.

🤞🤞

The front wheels wobbling while in reverse is normal.
OK, cool. Like I said in my initial post, I am very new to this, (first RC car, first time using LiPo batteries) and have no idea what to expect, so any and all advice is welcomed, and will be taken into consideration, as my interest in the hobby continues.

Reverse Wobble

The delay when going into reverse is normal. That's so you can use your brakes with accidentally going to reverse.

Gotcha. Man, I feel like I will be asking a ton of stupid questions lol. Please be patient lmao
"Stupid questions" are WAY cheaper than "stupid mistakes". 😉
Do be sure to watch videos and learn how to set your own gear mesh and to fill your own shocks properly.
Nothing wrong with LEARNING how to do this stuff from the ppl at the hobby shop. Don't just go in and hand them a pile of cash and let them fix your truck in the "back room". Get educated for your money! 😉
Mesh and shock oil are regular maintenance is something you should know how to do for yourself. 👍😁
There is NOTHING in that R/C that can't be figured out and assembled, right? You CAN learn and we CAN help!!!
Have fun with that truck!!!
Every vid I've seen of it, every review... ppl ALL love it! 😍😎

I feel the same way. If I had my way, I would do all my own modifications. I am big into firearms, and do my own work on them, and the danger involved if something goes wrong, is way greater then if I screw something up on a RC. But, there really doesn't seem to be good videos on stock trucks, so I am doing the best I can. Hopefully somewhere down the line, I can find a MT10 mentor of sorts lol

There are lots of videos out there.
They don't need to be specific to your r/c for the important details of "how to".
This might help for mesh. Its pretty straight forward once you try it a few times.
I don't even use the paper any more. It can be done by feel and sound.

Shock refilling is pretty straight forward too.
They are a bit more model specific because some shocks are built differently than others.
This might help too.

Read through ALL your lit and manuals that fame with it for pointers too. There might also be helpful exploded diagrams.

There are a few ppl in here who have these trucks. When you run into specific issues, you should post a new thread about them so everyone can chime in.

This is the problem I have with an RTR vs a kit.
If you bought this truck unassembled, you'd have a few questions about assembly along the way but mostly, you'd have a truck that you KNOW and are confident in repair and maintenance.

We were ALL noobs here once! 😉

If you can mod a rifle, this will be no problem. 👍

Thanks. Everyone here has been super helpful so far. I can imagine on my end, there will be a lot of trial and error, before I really start to understand things.

I almost bought a kit, and I may do that next time, but I wanted something to compare parts to. Hope that makes sense.

If you don't make a mistake or break something every once in a few, you're doing it wrong! 🤣

My comment about rtr vs kits wasn't directed at you so much as was a comment about R/C in general. Not many years ago, it was hard to find an RTR. Almost everything was a kit.

RTR is great for getting ppl into the hobby. Makes it easy when there you don't need to pick all the parts individually. Lots of ppl were intimidated by the build process too.

Now we have the other side where its hard to find a kit. Not a ton of manufacturers sell 'kits' these days.

For ppl who WANT to pick their own electronics, already own a good radio system etc...
The stuff that comes in an RTR is extra 'unwanted' parts that we HAVE to pay for and throw away.

Good and bad for each case.

You bought a good R/C, rtr or not! 👍
Your experience with it will come over time. Thru repairs and maintenance, you'll have the whole truck apart before long. 😉

I added some emojis to the above post ;). I think Team Associated is missing out on an opportunity. Just my opinion. I certainly would have bought a Pro2 SC10, and the Pro4 SC10 (Rival MT10 sibling) if they were released as kits. I mean, they got the freakin' step by step manuals to build the darn things down pat ... I can't think of anyone else that does complete manuals for their RTRs.

Gotcha. Man, I feel like I will be asking a ton of stupid questions lol. Please be patient lmao
Questions?... if you don't know, you don't know. Ask away, because just about every RC vehicle mentioned in the forum, has information pertaining to that specific RC scattered throughout the sub-forums and categories.

This forum wouldn't exist if we all knew everything, questions are good, and we are more than willing to help you learn. It won't take long to get you up to speed, and wrenching on your rigs. I am always learning new things here, now if only I could remember them. 🤣

I enjoy building kits so in EVERY case of RTR only, I feel like there is an opportunity missed.
If ppl bought an R/C from a hooby shop, the fear, intimidation of kit buying and building would be gone. Hobby shop owners sort of want repeat customers so they WANT to help.
Online 'hobby shops' are minimally helpful at best. Prob doesn't help that some of the "customer service" employees have never even turned an r/c car on before! 🙄
This forum really is sort of unique. Everyone here wanting to help out and in doing so, become part of the fun too.
Every other forum I've been a member of has had friction or bad energy. Someone NEEDING to be smarter or better... 🙄
This is actually a community of ppl with a genuine interest in group success. How odd... 🤔🤣

I will say, this is one of the few times, I have joined any group, and actually felt like everyone genuinely wanted to help. I'm not a very outgoing, or overly friendly person, so sometimes it's hard for me to "fall in" to a group. But here, it seems like everyone wants to help. Not just commenting to look smart, or better then me, because I have no idea what I am doing yet 😂🤣😂🤣

Thank you to you, and everyone else, for all their input so far

Not knowing what I'm doing doesn't stop me from offering advice! 😜 🤣 Seriously, this is a great forum and I have learned a bunch since I've been here.
