All I can really say about this little rig is WOW! I went to the track last night with it for the first time, and I had the most fun I have EVER had at the track. I must have run through 6 or 7 battery packs with the bunch of guys that were out there. We kind of do a Wed night informal race night here. It was just a BLAST! Super Super fun rig. I did 0 setup to it ahead of time as well. Took it out of the box, tossed my Spektrum radio setup in it....and went to the track.

I now wish I would have gotten a Slash a LOOOOOONG time ago. This thing is going to be a blast in the Spec Slash class for sure. Plenty of power to not be boring, yet not enough to clear everything.

Anyone looking for an injection of fun should definitely consider a Slash! I got @ 20-25 min of run time out of my 3800 packs....and my I will hopefully have a LIPO for it this weekend. We shall see.

congrats! i too started late in the slash game but oh well, having to much fun with it now lol. I'm getting really long run times on my track with 4000 3s and 5000 2s packs, like maybe 40 minutes.

Congrats my friend! I think the SC10's might be a little more refined.... I sort of wish I would have waited... but I love the heck out of my Slash. Your going to love it!

I thought about the SC10, but a few local guys bought em and they keep breaking crap all over the truck. So I figured I'd stick with the Slash for now and see what happens. The LIPO should give it a tad more kick....and longer run times. So that will only add to the fun. These stock tires really suck on dry tracks though. haha

Congrats on the Slash. I too have looked at the SC10 and love the looks of it. I too have heard that it seems to not handle the tough beatings of hard runs on or off track. Still would love to have on in my collection though.
As for SC10 performance compaired to the Slash is the way the chassis is set up. The biggest thing that has made a dispute on comparing the SC10 to the Slash is the LCG that the SC10 visably has. Other than that, the truck is only as good as what you put into it and it is a bit lighter. I know weight has a lot to do with performance but some times more weight, I think helps your tires dig in.
Though they have made some chassis to lower the LCG for the Slash,I honestly think the Slash is awsome right out of the box. I belive that Traxxas was thinking ahead when they designed the SLash the way it is now.
Again, congrats On the Slash.

Congratulations on the new slash man, it's about damn time!

I had an SC10 for about a week, ran at the track and it was amazing. My friend talked me out of it and traded a new Losi 8ight buggy for it. He wanted it so bad, I couldn't turn down the offer. I loved the SC10 for the little time I had it, it handles a lot better than a "spec" slash, and was faster. As far as durability though, I didn't push the SC10 to see what kind of abuse it would take, but it seemed to be pretty durable for what it is. It is meant for racing, not bashing. I will probably buy another SC10 down the road, but the Slash is just so widely accepted at tracks, every track around here is running at least one slash class weekly.

Hoping I get a new shirt and shoes for my Slash next month (Got a birthday coming up, woohoo!)

I did some setup to it tonight....so now I wanna see if it handles better on the track. I suppose we'll find out! I need to find out if we can add Diff fluid and change shock pistons and be legal as well. I suppose I'll find out right!

If your track is following NCCS rules for Slash spec you can add diff fluid (but not countersink it to add a o-ring so use 120k or 300k to lessen leakage) but not modify the shock pistons. You can change the shock oil though. Check out http://rcpro.rcsignup.com/nccs/rules.cfm for the NCCS rules.

The rules we have are semi-vague to be honest. Here is what's listed at my track's web site:

Slash Spec Racing League (S.S.R.L.)
Traxxas Slash CORR Spec Racer Class Rules

The following rules will be implemented to keep the vehicles in this class to an absolute minimum cost with little extra investment, doing so will keep the level of competition as close as possible. The goal of the S.S.R.L. is to create fun racing for new and existing R/C Off-Road Racers. These rules are devised to be used as a basis to start developing the class for all types of Racers.

So your local track won't allow SC10 racing with the Slash?

Hmm... I guess it will be a while before they start using ROAR spec in most places. I'm curious as to how the ROAR rules will work out.

SC10s are only allowed in the Pro-Lite class....which is a mod class. Those friggin trucks FLY too!

Moto congrats on getting the slash. i love mine. i'm getting to the point of selling my other trucks since they get little to no action now.

what set up changes did you make?

Nothing mind blowing. 60 wt oil up front, 40 in the rear (was out of 50), taped the tranny cover, taped the body wear points, added my Spektrum RX to it....and almost swapped out the pistons....but our rules are a bit unclear as to whether I can do that legally....so I have to research it first. If I can...I'll go to single piston up front...and add probably 30K or 50K diff fluid to the Diff ;-)

Well the new changes made a HUUUGE difference. Body roll is at a minimum now....tire grip seems to be improved (I also flipped the tires around. Left side tires went on the right hand side). Track was SUPER SUPER dry tonight....but overall...I think it feels like a new Slash completely!

I cannot wait to race this thing....
