EZ start to pull-start swap

Went to run my Nitro Sport the other day and when I tried to start it with the EZ start I heard a snap and then the electric starter motor ran without turning the engine. I had an old Pro15 engine from another project with a pull-start so I just swapped the broken EZ start for the pull-start from the spare engine. Works great. I might convert my other Traxxas Nitro’s as well. Not a huge fan of the EZ start.

It doesn't seem like it but if you walk to the bash site or roll over you don't risk your pants falling with just an igniter in it.

I walked around with a lighter to warm the engine, tuner/screwdriver, phone and glowplug igniter this vacation lol

my experience with the ez start is absolutely crap. iv never seen one last more than maybe 6 months. swapping over to a pull start is probably the best thing you can do to a nitro traxxas vehicle.

EZ start is junk, it's heavy and unreliable. Pull start or roto start is vastly better. Bump start is the best if it's on a vehicle that can do it.

I've only lost a one way bearing in an ez start but they are big and goofy and heavy and don't work great too.
Pull start is the way.

I guess I’ve been pretty fortunate with that truck. It’s almost 10 years old and the EZ worked fine until a couple days ago when it let go. What gets to be a pain is when you go to fire it up and the starter wand battery dies and you can’t start the truck.

I kept 2 chargers on. Rotating receiver and wand batteries for the duration of the session! Had to keep a few stick packs charged up at all times for this reason!!!
