Hey guys would this be an ok combo?
Viper VST17.5
and
Castle Sidewinder V2

And if in the future can i run a mod motor on the castle esc?

Id check with castle to be sure but i dont see why not. That motor is only rated at 157W continuous. Pretty low for a 1/10 scale electric motor.

I personally would go for a lower T motor that is brushless. Since this is a 2 wheel drive truck Duratrax has a Castle motor and Esc that might just work well in this truck for an inexpensive price.

If you want a system that really has screaming RPMs than this

You did not state the truck or buggy so really cannot offer much help if we do not know the model but these are good motor for trucks around 5 pounds.

The stock motor is a 13.5T/2750kv so Id go with a Tekin Redline 17.5T/2500kv or a 13.5/3500kv personally. If you wanted to stick with Viper brand you could go with the 13.5T/2400kv or the 10.5T/3100kv motors.

I'm not to familiar with racing rules but Turn ratings vary from company to company so id look around for a 17.5T that meets with your race rules that has the highest KV rating. The Tekin 17.5T for example is a 2500kv motor whereas the Viper is only something like 1900kv.
