I've been having a slash roller for a while now and I've never got around to buying the esc and motor for it

my question is what is the best bang for your buck setup i was look at the sct castle creations kit its a little over 100 off ebay but i want to be able to run the 3s lipo that already have

and any help on a good servo would be sweet too

I think all the 3s capable esc/motor combos new are gonna be atleast $120 or so unless you piece together a hobbywing esc with a ezrun or simular motor but its gonna be real close to $100 too.

Might post up for a used vxl setup too...

I don't think you even need 3s. I would go for a 2s setup.

the only reason i said 3s was bc i already have one but will most likely pick up a 2s later on

if i was to look into the hobbywing esc which amps should i be shooting for I've never really messed with esc other then scale type trucks

2s is so underpowered compared to 3s, I wont even mess with 2s on a SC personally. Id say 60A would be ok.

For A SCT yes, but for a Rustler? I took my stock Team Associated SCT ESC rated for 2's threw is on my stampede messing around and it did wheelies on command for a whole battery. I'm not trying to argue in any sort of way. Just stating my side of the story.

I was just talking about a slash since thats what he is setting up. I know nothing about rustlers.

I really don't either but I have couple buddies who have them and stock they will do some wheelies. Plus I am sure they are way light, so with the proper gearing on 2's I would guess that it would run like a champ.

Rollinlow what are you trying to do with it?

And is the Rustler a SCT? I thought it was a stadium truck.

Well mine is a slash and I just want to bash around or maybe the track cuz I think they about to open one not to far from me but mostly bash

All I have is scale trucks which are slow so this will be my faster truck to play around with

I using parts that I had already to save on cost and I have a 3s lipo that is just sitting not getting used so that's why I said I wanted to go 3s

A lot of the 2wd slash parts or also rustler parts which I had long ago so the tranny is the same and once I get a motor and esc picked out ill just gear it to what's best for the setup

Oohhh... oops I read Rustler somewhere haha sorry about that guys. Man I feel like a total idiot now!

But I now agree with slowngreen I would put at least a 3's on there.

what about steering servos?should i be looking for speed or tq or both

It's up to you. I like Savox and Hi-Tech servos, go onto servocity and shop around.

On the cheap a good ol 645 hitec would be pretty good.

i have a 645 from my trailfinder so i think ill just use that and upgrade my TF2 servo

ill get some pictures up my slash and a build tread once i get some more parts in i ordered a few things for it
