Ooooooooohhhhh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Sorry I haven't updated this thread - build. I got the Fusion SE 1800kv motor & went to install last week. Ran into a small issue. The motor mount screws. Dummy me, used a hex driver to remove. I took the shock tower off one side to be able to better get to it. Should have used a L-hex wrench. Rounded out one screw. Been busy with regular stuff & haven't touched it. I'll get it.

Looking at the pictures it appears you guys are running straight axles in your Ectos, are the portal axles a newer option? If you were buying again would you go portal are straight axle? Reasons?

Portals weren't available when I bought mine. But i have had both Solid Axle and IFS and both perform great. Portals are up soon for the house of Doom. :thumbs-up:

mine was before the portals was an option, if given the option i would go with portals, just for that extra clearance,

I have read a bunch of different opinions on this and from what I have read the only real difference between portals and straight axles is preference. They each have pro's and cons that are pretty much equal depending on your crawling style and terrain.

I watched a bunch of videos. For my terrain, the portals were too tall & it would tip over. The link riser I installed makes more traction, but the rear stands up, so here & there, it's more tipsy. I'll probably take the link riser off for trails. But it works good on steep climbing & flats. Bad on rocks.

Ecto update. Got a Jconcepts Anvil body. Doing mods to mount it. Had a Hobbywing FOC 1800kv motor since September. Been working on some upgrades & gonna install the motor. Removed the stock motor & ESC. Did a SOA servo on axle mount. True 4-link front & panhard bar delete. Cut out the servo/ESC plastic tray to have room for the SOA servo up sweep. Had to keep it to still mount the shock towers, they screw into it. Got it filed & notched for the servo ears/tabs at all movements. Modded the body posts to mount this carbon fiber magnetic body mount & retained the carbon fiber tube I installed between the upper front shock towers I did last year. Got some ideas for the rear of the cab & a waterproof receiver box. Either magnetic mounts or clip body posts facing the rear out the back of the cab.

Got the body mounted. Front magnets on top of the body for mock up. Still have to expoy them underneath. Used two generic receiver boxes for rear body mounts & use the front leftover posts. They are not the final version, just mock up for hole locations in the two boxes & body. They are secured in thru a post hole & a long screw against the floor of box. Pretty cool huh. Got some aluminum ones on the way to replace them but are dimensionally the same but short on mount hole side. The right side reciever box will house the reciever. It was on the left, exposed. Drilled a 6mm hole in it for a rubber grommet for the antenna wire. There is a antenna mount on both sides of the plates, the receiver boxes are rested up against them. More to come. Got a few more adjustments here and there.

Looking goood.

Why didn't you use magnets for the rear body mounts, too?
I thought about it. The little kit came with 2 mount sets. The lower half of the rear of the cab body is drafted. It has a slight bow. I kinda mocked up the magnets there, & it would have pulled the body down flat. Making it look wavy. The posts let it take its natural shape. I didn't have to cut it at all. Just two holes.
