oh come on people! now, either noodle doesn't have any electrical experience or is too lazy or broke to make one himself. If you would just go to the shack and ask, they can probly show you exactly what you need, you can make it proffesionl if you know how to solder. and that's easy to learn. Its all trial and error so just give it a shot. I see a switch at the shack at http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=275-1555
just solder it in with an led rated for your battery pack and put it in a nice little package like an old reciever case.

All sarcasm aside think about it. You land on your lid, or any other spot that the ground, a pole, another r/c can have acess to this button, and your electronics are turned off.

Can you say run away buggy?

Any place you mount a push button switch that is going to be handy enough to use is also going to be exposed to anything the r/c comes in contact with. It just doesn't make sense.

Me, one day soon I will eliminate the switch on my rc. I will use a deans, or some other type of connector. Just one less thing to screw up and cause a run away when it gets wet or crushed.

I would rather spend the cash on more fuel.

And I was going to steal the idea of a using a modified dog collar hooked up to a clapper with an inline resistor.

Good luck noodle, like I said, it looks complicated and expensive. If ya get one and it fails on ya, don't say we didn't warn ya.

Also, those plugs don't look too standard for the radios that are popular here.
 
I hate to go against the grain here, but he certainly found exactly what he was describing. It does exist. And doesn't look much more complicated that other things we use. Push....it's on. Push....it's off. The LED is a battery monitor. No different then something like the Venom battery meter. It doesn't look like a hack job. It's made by KO Propo so I would assume the thing is rigged with standard JR connectors. My guess is that it would work fine. And as far as accidentally bumping it off on a flip or crash, just fabricate a cover for it that you can flip up when you need to get to it. I don't think it's much different than other mods we've all tried. Give the kid a break. He's thinking outside the box.
 
Wow, things like $25.00. I will stick with the standard on/off and a failsafe.

Yeah, I'll give him that. But the question remains: why spend $25 on a switch with a light when you can get a more useful gadget, like a real volt meter or a failsafe or a speedometer with a built in voltmeter?

You can get a switch harness that is used in R/C airplanes. It consists of a heavy duty slide switch and a charging wire. When the receiver (switch) is off, and only when it's off, the charge wire is activated. Every car radio manufacture that also produces aircraft radios offers an aircraft switch harness and it will fit without any problems. The aircraft switch harness is made to a higher quality standard than the car switch and is fuel proof. The best part is that is only costs a few dollars. Airplane radio stuff is typically made better under stricter Q.C. An airplane, unlike a land vehicle, can be VERY dangerous if it ever gets out of control. Hence the better quality. BTW, you are posting "16 posts per day". I'm sure you have better things to do with your time, like homework (lol).

The Venom Speed Meter. I am painfully close to getting one and a few other members already have them. It's a neat setup. It will measure a lot of things. Mostly top speed of your ride. But it also has an onboard battery meter so you will always know how your rx batteries are doing....
 
Yup, Venom makes it. Once you install the sensor and do a little calibration, it will measure the current speed (not real useful), the max speed for that run (pretty awesome), I think the average speed (not too sure about that), the trip odometer, and a lifetime odometer, and a voltmeter for the Rx pack. Doing a little math will also yield fuel milage. And it works in mph and kph (for the metric crew).

Much more useful than a push button on/off switch. Do a search on here and put the words "venom" and "speedomoter", or just "venom" and look for speedometer and you'll find alot of posts about this gadget.

noodle are u 100% sure its not just something this guy made

i think he did make it and for the best for the car i think that a slide switch or a toggle switch is best for u unless u plan on mounting it like on a shock tower b/c i think like stated about every time u hit a bump or jump something its going to trun off

and also stated above the only way to achive what u want is to use some pretty heavy weight stuff and thats the last thing u want on any r/c car or truck for that matter

b/c weight = motor strain = less engine/motor life which all in turn = more money
