Okay, I got a xxx-t with a Novak XRS ESC, and a Epic 3800mAh battery running a 19t speed gems pro motor. When I run for say 6 min wot the ESC is hot, I can keep my finger on it but it is hotter then a freshly charged battery, there isnt that burnt electric smell either. The motor isnt as hot about as hot as a charged batt. I have never had an electric like this before is this normal.

it might be the gearing but that might be a lot of motor for that ESC, I can't remember what that ESC is rated as far as motors but usualy that ESC is run with 27T "stock as far as racing" motors. Here is a good thing to remember with gearing, the lower the turn motor the lower you want to gear it, the lower the turn motor the more RPM's it turns and you wnat to gear it lower to get those RPM's or you will burn the motor and/or the ESC up. Some believe with the more pwerful motor the more gearing you can put to it but that is not the case.

A good example is I race a 27 turn in stock and I run around a 20-22 pinion, and when I put my 8T in I run anywhere from a 15-17.

I agree with the others.... First thing I would look at is gearing. Is it the stock motor that came with the XXX-T? Do you have any documentation? I would see what the stock gearing is supposed to be and start there.

Well the ESC can go to a 15t motor, No it isnt the stock motor. Okay well I have looked high and low and can't find what pinion or spur is stock. I will have to look harder.

Thanks guys.

Thanks guys, you were all right, I dropped some teeth in my pinion and it runs a little slower but I can run for ever, and the esc gets warm but not hot.

And thanks SD the manual helped alot

Hey Jon,

It is 86 spur and 14 pinion

Their are 3

and the Epic 3800 6 cell.

How are the brushes on that 19t?

I'm thinking you should be okay, but it kind of sounds like your esc is tired.
I don't see why it would be getting so hot over a 19t motor.
