I am an electric noob and just ordered a MERV VXL. The only electric RC i have is a Losi micro. I am a nitro/gas guy but had to have a MERV. Any tips for a new electric owner? Do you have to cut air holes in the windshield like on nitros? Should i get a heat sink for the motor or fan for the ESC? I plan on running stock batteries for a while.

Mervs run cool with the included 6 cell but start to get warm when you run 2 in series. A heat sink and vent holes could never hurt.

Any decent aluminum heatsink for 380-sized motor should be fine. You might also look at a finned motor mount, too.
