I see at Tower that there are 550 17-Turn "pro" motors available for the E-Maxx. The Traxxas EVX speed controller that comes with the truck is rated only to 19 turn. I want to get the 17-turns and also use a pair of IB3800 7-cell batteries with them (8.4 volts x 2 = 16.8).

Has anyone tried this or is there an upgrade for the dual-battery truck?

how do you like your emaxx? I had one for a while, and i never seemed to get enough time from the bat's to do anything...maybe 4 min of run time....seemed like those huge 550 motors used too much juice....so i sold it...NITRO!!

With the new 3800 batts I'm sure they ROCK!
The E-Maxx has as much or more torque then the Big Block conversions.

uh, I don't actually HAVE an e-maxx yet. I'm still putting it together in my head <G>. The videos on the Traxxas site look like they're pretty fast, and they have a 2-speed transmission. One for rock-crawling, and one for racing I guess.

Yep, LRP makes 3800 V-TEC cells. And I'm telling you, the are the bomb. Great amounts of punch.

I have an E-Maxx and use the Traxxas EVX on my Kyosho TwinForce.

Also have two pairs of Trinity Monster Maxx motors one set is 19turns motors the other the 17turn "Pro".

The EVX got quite hot using the dual 17 turn motors.Keep in mind I used no actrive cooling. With a small 40mm cooling fan it would probably be ok.Double and triple check with others who used the EVX with dual 17turn 550 motors to be sure.

Emaxx questions.

I really didn't want to make a new thread so I did a search and found this thread instead.

Well I went to buy a Tmaxx today and the guy said he would throw in an Emaxx for an extra C note. So I said sure.

Anyways, I'm not looking to make this any faster than it already is stock. I'm am how ever looking for some battery pack info. The batteries it came with are stock and slightly wore out. I'm looking for some longer lasting battery packs if all possible. If they add more power, fine but I really want something to last 15-20 mins. There is a chance I may buy two sets for it and wonder if anyone new of the best price for these batteries.

Also I'm looking for a Hummer body if anyone has one lying around they don't want ;)

Thanks for the help and advice
Ray

Ray, the higher the mah the longer they last. You can get up to 3800 stick packs now. I just use my LHS, but there is also RCPacks.com.

Thanks

I found a deal on 4 packs of 3000 mah, would this be ok or should I go for a higher set of mah batteries? Just thinking of extras to reload with ;) It's got a set of 3300 with it but they look like crap. They got some melted spots on them and the wires are naked in some spots. Also one of the motors has all it's fins broken off inside of it...the plastic is not in the motor but missing all together. I'm guessing these are designed to cool the motor? There maybe a new motor in the future for that one but not sure right now. Also speaking of cooling, how hard is it to get a cooling system (fan) wired up to one of these?

Thanks
Ray
