I'm working on a relative's Duratrax Overdrive truck and need a little help. The available instructions and documentation for this truck really sucks. I need to know if the shifting clutch setup for the 2 speed should have some sort of ball/spring behind the set screw. I'm no expert on the two speed stuff but it looks to me like something is missing. The adjustment set screw has nothing behind in and when screwed completely in it has no effect on anything nor does it contact the little engagement lever. It just looks like there should be possibly a spring and ball to apply adjustable pressure to the engagement lever in the clutch. It doesn't look much different than the HPI car 2 speed engagement setup but in a totally different transmition. Any help would be appreciate.

Hello, I do not own an overdrive, but the duratrax web site has manuals and exploded parts views, if you have adobe acrobat. the parts list is about 1.3 MB. I was going to download and check it out but I'm off to a b party right now, if you can't down load the manual or list , let me know and ill try to get info 4 u, unless somebody else responds that actually has an overdrive.

Yeah right. I got the exploded veiw and it is not very good. The manual is all nut useless too. The diagram shows the spur gears but just points to the center for the clutch assembly with no breakdown of its pieces. This is not my truck, I'd never buy a Duratrax to start with. I'm just fixing it for someone. It would be nice if the manuals woyld show you how stuff goes together and adjusts like most manuals do but it is more like a morons guide to R/C running. Oh well, such is life. I checked Tower Hobbies and they have all the parts to replace the 2 speed clutch and the other I need to fix the truck. Everything is only about $40 + S&H. Not bad. Checked with local Hobbytown (they sell Duratrax stuff) got the following answer "The Computer says we don't stock and I can't get it." What's with the "I can't get it"? I should have know better than to even ask them. That particular store or francise really sucks. They don't have anything you ever need. Heck, half the time you check they are out of at least half a dozen colors of paint. They must get one or two cans at a time. Dahh. Even if you ask them to get you something they generally stock, you have to pay for it in adavance or they will not get it. I'm glad that I don't have to depend on that place for my stuff. My brother thinks they are gods there but he don't know squat and is pretty gullable. I gave him the part numbers he needs and it's now in his hands. The truck is his brother-in-law's and I'm not charging for my time so when he gets me the parts I'll fix the truck. I was told this guy actuall washes the truck off in the kitchen sink after he runs it. The bearings and stuff show it too. The tire foams were so wet that the tires turned like they were square. "Some people you just can't reach!"
