RC Driving Style
Now that I have more power than I know what to do with:bow: I am already needing some new skins, but want some that will last awhile. I need some suggestions... Mine are Tamiya 80-40-05 10th scale.

What type of tires are you looking for on road/ off road what kind of driving are you doing racing or bashing around these things will help in choosing a tire, but no matter what tire you get when you add more power your tires will where out faster..

I am looking at racing them and need something for clay tracks. I am sure thast some designs hold up better such as a harder compound. To me they should last longer.

i am running the associated TC3 nitro tires right now on my brushless and they last for one battery pack. I am in the hunt for a long lasting tire as well.

Yeah bullet proof tires. I don't know about kevlar but maybe some other type of synthetic rubber. Does clay really wear down on tires?

go here and you should be able to find tires for all of your rscing needs http://www.prolineracing.com/ as for racing on clay I would recomend some hole shots, as for on road I can't be much help other then going to the Proline site abd taking a look around, good luck...

Well you could just make a really hard rubber substance for the tires and it would be cheaper than kevlar and last forever, BUT the harder the tires, the less traction that you will get. If you're going to start racing, I think you really need to go to the track that you're going to be racing at, and talk to the guys racing about their tires. Chances are most of them are going to be running similar tires because everyone wants that edge and they're all going to be running the best tires for that particular surface. The clay that's on my home track and the clay thats at the track at the LHS is completely different, so you can imiagine how hard it will be for someone across the country to guess what tires you need. Something else that you're going to want to decide is what compound to run. You can run a harder compound and get a couple of races out of a set of tires, or you can run a softer compound and get more traction but change them after each race.

So how's that motor holding up for you? I kinda regret selling it now, but I'm so glad that you're enjoying it. When you go to the LHS, find out the class rules for racing at your local track. That cobalt revolution motor may be too big for the mod class and you might not want to start racing in the open class. If that motor is too big, I have a Reedy 17 turn motor that came with my stock T4, and I'm sure it will fit better in one of the classes at the track. If you need it, I'll sell it to you for almost nothing since you bought the other stuff from me.

If you add a hard wearing fiber like kevlar it helps the rubber to hold up and last longer. Even fiberglass would be beneficial.

Yeah I see what you mean. I was just thinking that the kevlar or fiberglass would make the rubber compound harder than soft rubber, which is a bad thing when it comes to traction. But I'm in no way an expert on these materials so I was just guessing based on the knowledge that I had.

Allot of ppl here run either the hole shots by proline or a foam like tire. I run clay and think the hole shot is a good choice. I can get almost 2 full days at the track on 1 set of hole shots before having to replace them. I guess it depends on your budget and driving style. Those foam style tires I mentioned, they are GREAT for traction, but only last 1 race. Just can't remember the name of them right this moment.
