Got a Spektrum DX3C and was wondering what is the difference between DSM and DSM2. I have read a little on the subject and so far the difference seems so little that I wouldn't bother with the DSM2. Any thoughts??

I'm not extremely knowledgeable about DSM, DSM2, or DSMX but this is my understanding. At least I'm assuming this is what you are talking about. I've heard of DSSS but not DSMS.

DSM is old tech and not supported anymore so I would shy away from anything that is DSM...That being said the biggest difference I'm aware of was a latency drop from about 11ms to about 5.5ms. I seriously doubt anyone is gonna be able to tell a difference between 5 or 6 ms so its still totally usable. DSM2 TXs can be used with DSM RXs but not the otherway around. DSM2 and DSMX are both backwards compatible maning you can use a DSM2 TX with a DSMX RX and visa versa. Of course if you mix and match them they will operate as DSM2. The biggest advantage that DSMX has over DSM2 is just less chance of interference in the 2.4 GHz range. For example huge gatherings where you might have say 75+ radios all working in proximity to one another. I'm not sure if there was a speed increase in DSMX but I doubt there was since any increase you could gain wouldnt be seen to the human senses.

I hope this helps.

I think the speed difference is about .6 of a millisecond. The only three things different that I could find was slight speed increase, stability/range and less battery use. Oh and the fact that it is the newest bestest thing and for some people that's enough. (Just like the old one but this one has a 2)

Are your referring to DSMX? Cuz basically the main reason they made that was for growing concerns of interference at large RC events. I'm not saying that there arent other minor benefits but yeah thats the only main difference between DSM2 and DSMX

The title should have read DSM V DSM2. I am just referring to spektrum receivers. Also I know that Spektrum would make a newer product better not the same or worse but I don't think the extra price matches the extra benifits.
