I Have been keeping track of my r/c expenses since the new year started. I do run my electrics indoors in the winter so yes, that will account for a higher total. I'm just curious, how much (estimate) have you spent this year to keep your car's running?People who race will most probably have a higher total as well as those that can run all year round.

Mine comes out to about $2500 and climbing!(+/- $100). Broken down ...

  1. Battery packs
  2. Charger
  3. Tire truer
  4. Soldering iron
  5. Tools
  6. Serpent parts
  7. A few engines
  8. Motors
  9. 3 radios (sold one)
  10. Spare receivers
  11. Spare parts
  12. Hopups
  13. 1 kit
  14. Fuel
  15. Entrance Fees
  16. Gasoline to get to the tracks
  17. Misc pieces to keep running aka plugs, foams
  18. Bodies & Paint
If you don't want to incriminate yourself with the "Significant other" it's understandable. I always plead the fifth. :hammer:

I don't care what you run. This is a general question for everyone. Of course, different scales will cost different amounts for the kits ... BUT how much have you spent to keep running ... read the post.

Do you have a problem with comprehending a simple question or is just comprehension in general?

Well, I just spent $107 today on my savage for backup parts and diff parts. Getting tired of cvd's.

My significant other would *ahem* hurt me if she knew the kinda cash I've dropped so far.

I would say between the car I have and the one I'm gonna filch off of RedHat about 500 alltoghether. Kinda bad considering I've only had the car for a month.

i dont add up totals, i have nobody to report to. id estimate I'm somewhere around 1500 and going this year.

as for diver, he's not usually harsh without reason. bouzouki, how many posts have you put your 2cents in lately without fully reading the post or just repeating info that you have read elsewhere? those seem to be his pet peeves.

I plead the fifth, & I wouldn't know where to start.. It's Joe's fault...

For a normal situation yeah ... for Bouzouki, read his previous posts. Complete misinterpretation to questions and unsolicited input to specific questions ... apples to oranges.

EXACTLY, pointing something out that has nothing to do with a simple question. Arguing with you ... nah, just pointing out inconsistancies with your way of thinking and comprehension ... always apples to oranges.

Will it continue ... probably. Will you care ... probably won't even comprehend enough to care in the slightest bit.

Bingo! just voicing out what others have been questioning and bringing up via pm's and when racing together.

Oh noes! We can't point out things in threads anymore!

:ponder:

Oh brother.
Gas prices have people running a short fuse these days.

Well guys, I just got into cars last year. Spent about $2000 last year. Probably $1500 this year?

I've been in RC for 10 yrs? (started in planes) I would hate to think what I have spent since. Got most of the invoices. I've had fun, that is all that counts.

Now i'm confused.
Can I include Kits in the total?
Also engines, and servos?

I just started this past Feb and spent around $1500 in the first 3 months between putting 2 used electric trucks back together, buying upgrades for an old RC10GT tub chassis, buying a xxx-nt, support parts and another used 3x + parts for spares. Since then I have slowed down on spending but I still can't get out of the hobby shop for under $100 when I go.

I guess you could say its kinda like discribing a boat. Def: Boat; a hole in the water you pour money into. The bigger the boat the more money you have to pour into the hole.

Ratzo, I include everything that I purchase for the hobby. Kits, servos, engines, motors ... anything and everything purchased to scratch that r/c itch. Speaking of kits ... been looking at the Corally RDX for indoor carpet and the XB8r. That XB8r will be determined after the Oct 1&2 race/bash down in Pa when Corrado let's me take his out for a couple cartwheels ... um, I mean laps.

One thing for sure, I'm just glad that I'm not the only one spending the amount I do on this hobby. I'm sure that sl0eg1n is not far behind me in spending. If anything ... we may be pretty even. He just has an advantage ... his gf buys kits for him.

If your looking for a 12th scale, I have a brand new IRS rugrat with all the IRS goodies.
Brand new. Never used. (blue carbon fiber).

Back to the thread.

Since January 1.

V-one rrr
With Jp modified
And servos
Spectrum reciever
About $1300

Spectrum DSM system $180 with 1 reciever.

777 sp2 complete $1000. I took parts from the kanai.

New mill for mgt $200

2 rc's for the kids $600 total with repairs and all

$120 for fuel so far

$50 glow plugs

set up station $140

40 series tires and rims $120

$150 on bodies

$80 personal transponder

Probably $500 on minor stuff over the months.

$4600 sounds about right
