My rc drift car recently started to make grinding noises at low speed, it has barely any run time, idk what happened, I have a video but I don’t know how to upload it here

It could be any gears. I would inspect your spur gear first and if that looks good then you need to dig into the diffs.
That's actually a great way to learn about your rig.
Dig in and find the problem.

agreed with @Tunedfrog, I would check your pinion/spur first, make sure your gear mesh is set properly. And then id check the ring/pinion gear in the gearbox(s) and then the actual diffs themselves. If all the gears look good, I'd take the pinion gear off the motor and run the motor and see if its the motor making the noise.

You can upload it to youtube and put the link here, make sure your video in youtube is listed as public or unlisted.

Cool mechanics trick - take a screwdriver and place the tip on the diff housing. Put the handle end against your ear. Run the car and listen. When you find the area making the noise, you'll hear it through the screwdriver, like a stethoscope. Pro-tip: take the tires off first 🤪

Don't forget to disassemble, check, and relube the spider gears inside your differential while you're in there.

Nice. Just an FYI, if you're seeing things for $.99, you might look around for some goodies to grab. The price goes back up eventually. It was showing me $.99 items the other day and I grabbed a really nice wireless dual lavalier mic set for $.99. Regularly like $20. There was a lot of cool stuff for $.99. The stethoscope you linked there shows $2.24 for me.

You think it would be because this one time I put some wheels that were too big and they rubbed on something so when I pressed the throttle the whole rear arm and suspension started to twist, I haven’t heard the sound before but I think that might be the cause

Say whaaaaaa? Open that thing up and investigate.

Think about this...
In the time it took you to reply since yesterday, you could have stripped the entire drivetrain down, found the problem, and put it back together 😉

It can be any number of things causing it. We can all sit here and guess what it might be. But it won't fix your issue. Only you can do that. And that requires a set of tools. Not a keyboard 😉

So get busy. And take lots of pics and post here so we can follow along.

Will do!

Ok so I took apart the chassis brace to get a better look at the front gears, I don’t really know what’s going on they seem to be meshed up good, it’s where the wound is coming from anyway, here’s a vid

Everything looks ok but you need to get deeper. The gears look fine so maybe there is a bearing in there somewhere that has blown apart. That sound is awful

I recently had this same sound coming from the drivetrain in a Hypergo car, when I took it apart, magically there was nothing broken. Sometimes you just have to threaten the damn thing with full dismemberment to sort the issue out. Then carry out those threats. I bet it’s a bearing or a gear you can’t see hidden in one of those plastic housings. Go deeper!

The camera moves around so much it's hard to see what is going on. But even if it sounds like the noise is coming from the spur and pinion, it could just be sound waves traveling through the components. Start off by taking that assembly apart and check everything out.

So I just took all the gears part and inspected them , I saw no damage whatsoever, I put it back together to test and the sound disappeared?! Was it maybe debris?

No telling. Sometimes you just have to threaten it like J was saying lol

Good for you then, maybe it was just debris. I literally just had this happen to one in our fleet and it still has me bewildered.

Did you notice any debris?

It could have been. It could be that something was loose, or tweaked. Plastic deforms rather easily, so tightening or loosening one screw down more in one area can warp the component. If you didn't see any debris fall out, that would be my guess.
