Ok all you Computer experts I need some help. My girl’s brother jacked with my computer. Now the disk drive will not work. Is there a way to fix this or what? Every once in a while when I start it up it gives me (windows is checking disk drive) or something like this then it fixes it. Keep in mind that I am a complete idiot.

by "disk drive" you mean floppy disk? the 3 and 1/2 inch drive where you put disks in?
if that's the case, someone may have jammed something in the slot and wrecked the drive.
the floppy drive is not that big of a deal to most people. if it's a really big thing for you, take the computer in for service. there isn't much choice. unless you want to open the hood and change the floppy drive by your self. they are cheap assuming you don't need some special type of drive for your pc.

LOL, I can't believe you said that rob. Imnotsure, when you start the cpu, and windows says it's checking the disk, does it say "checking C: for errors"? or D: If it does. there's only a few reasons this happens. If it's 98, it usually means the computer was powered off improperly (which I assume you do shut it down correctly). But the most disturbing reason is a failing hard drive. The error message will pop up on all versions of windows when this happens. Does the hard drive make any noises, like a high pitched whining, or a clunking noise when the cpu is running? This is usually a good sign of a dieing drive.
Damn, I just reread your last post, the CD is not reading? That's odd, windows almost never checks the CD on bootup errors. If it won't read, the drive is toast. Get a new one and replace it. There are 3 cords plugged into the back of the drive. They only go in one way. poop, I'm not at work, what am I doing writing this garbage........ Never mind.

actually, i don't know which disc it's talking about. i dont't pay that much attention to which one it was. i'm using xp pro. a couple of lightning storms came through which shut the computer down. i think this was around the same time the drive stopped working. windows troubleshoot said if that happens, it could cause it to corrupt. they said to uninstall and shut the computer down. when you start it back up, if the computer does not bring up the install wizard to reinstall it, it's bad and we have to replace it. does this normally happen?

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! Microshaft tech support told you to uninstall windows????? DO NOT DO THAT!!!!!! You will more than likely loose all your stuff.
Do this:
1) open "my computer"
2) RIGHT click the C: drive.
3) Select "Properties"
4) left click the "Tools" tab at the top of that box.
5) Left click on the "Error Checking" button
6) put checks in the 2 boxes that are in the window that pops up.
7) click the "start" button
A dialog box should pop up stating that the entire disk cannot be freed to run the scan, and it will ask you is you want to run it the next time you boot. Click yes, then reboot the machine. When it restarts, it'll run scandisk again, but it will take a bit longer since you told it to do a surface scan and attempt to recover bad sectors.
When it's done, it will generate a report on what it found. Bad sectors, etc. If everything is ok, that's good. Sometimes windows gets stuck on running scandisk after an improper shutdown and running it in this mode should clear it up. If it doesn't, or the disk has developed a problem (bad sectors, mechanical problems, etc) you might have to replace it.
If all else fails, take the thing to a decent computer shop and get a new disk, and tell them you want the new disk installed, and the old disk imaged to the new one. If they look at you blankly, or don't know what imaging, ghosting, or disk cloning is, leave immediately. PM me if you need any other advice or help.
