Hey,

My friend is looking for a solid diff or a diff spool for a Nitro MT. Anyone know where I can find one?

I haven't found one, but you could put silly putty in the diff cup where the spider gears are if you just want to try it. If you want it permanent, clean out the cup of all grease, put all the gears in as they should be, fill the cup with jb-weld.

I did that on my maxx once when I had it. It lasted quite awhile.

The Nitro MT is a pretty awesome handling truck. Why does your friend want to ruin the handling of this 4WD race truck. If you spool or JB weld the rear gears the truck will push (continue to drive straight slighty when you want to turn). This is not good in most peoples minds. If you don't care about the push then think about the parts you will break because the differential was never designed to be that way especially if you jump your truck alot. Remember one modification(locking the diff) almost always requires another modification(beefing up ALL other drivetrain parts) and even then you will have to have a WEAK LINK. I like to make the weak link on any vehicle easy to repair.

My NMT pushes when on power anyway... although, I haven't really driven it much at all since I got it. It's been too cold and the parts just aren't as beefy as my savage's, so it doesn't hold up as well.

As light of a truck as it is, I don't think locking the rear diff is going to really damage anything, unless you shoehorn a 21 in there. I ran my maxx with a 21 and locked rear diff. I did it as a last resort as the aluminum diff cup was wearing out where the outdrives come through the cup. I ran it that way for about a gallon and it held up fine.

As fast and light as the NMT is, traction is always an issue, at least it is with mine and an OS 18 in it...
