I'm having a few problems with my buggy that I'd like some help in.

First is the clutch. Any of you X-Terminator owners know about those little crappy flanged clutchbell bearings?? Well, I've gone through two sets in one gallon and I'm getting frustrated. They just keep exploding!! So, I'm lookin' for a new clutchbell setup. I've thinkin of using one like the one on the savage. That setup hasn't failed me yet, I guess because it uses bigger bearings...i dunno, any tips??

Second is the diffs. I mainly drive on grass, it isn't tall grass, but still my diffs unload pretty bad. I'll have it WOT and be going 10 mph with one or two tires ballooning. I'v done a lil reasearch on this and found that silicone oil is the answer, so what wt. should I use in each (front, rear, center) for bashing only?? I've heard you can lock the center diff, is this a good option?? Also how full do you fill the diff cups with oil, all the way??

Thanks for any help or tips!!

If you want a new clutch set up I would look at the Fioroni one. I use this and the Werks clutch but am going to stick to the Fioroni one from now on. I have seen people lock the diffs. kind of like 50,000 wt. oil but I will let them tell you how it worked I would never do this but I just race my buggy. You should fill them just over the spider gear pin.

Just to be more specific I don't mean the clutch shoes or the flywheel, I meant how the clutchbell sits on the cranshaft. Like on my buggy it uses very small flanged bearings and they explode very easy, but on my savage it uses bigger bearings and seems to be more durable. I think I'm going to use a savage-style clutchbell set up with a hardend steel bell. Any thoughts??

So what wt. should I use in the front, rear, and center diffs for maximum grip and prevention of unloading??

i don't know about your clutch question as i haven't had any problems with mine (yet).

about the diff oil, if your front wheels are unloading you should put some heavier oil in the center diff, if your rear wheels are unloading put some lighter oil in the center. if it's only one wheel, then put heavier oil on the diff next to the unloading wheel. not sure which weight oil the x-t comes with though, so can't help ya there.

Check and make sure your engine is perfectly straight. I had the same problem with my pcr and it turned out that my engine was just slightly off.

As for the diff oils, most people go with a baseline of 5,000 front, 7,000 center, and 1,000 rear. I tried that setup and I found it to be about right, I think 2,000 would be better though I just don't have the oil for it. Some people like to put 10,000 in the center that is more like locking it and you can go as high as 100,000 maybe even higher.

try a new clutchbell next time you put in bearings. if yours is out of round at all(maybe from an overheated clutch), it can cause premature wear on the bearings.

I could be wrong Nitro_Freak, but I thought the X-T didn't come with any oil in the diffs, just some grease on the gears.

Thanks vbgagnon, that's what I was looking for. What would happen if I put 2,000 in the rear as opposed to 1,000??

So I guess I'll try 5,000 front, 7,000 for center, and 2,000 for the rear. One last question, My X-Terminator has cup-style diffs, how much oil do I put in the diff??? About half full??

we're talking about the exact same thing, just one of us is using the incorrect term (and i'm not sure which one lol)

Do I have to clean off the grease that's already on the gears or can I just leave that?

I guess you could leave it in but I wouldn't recommend it. It would be best to clean them up real good and go from there.

Ok, so I'll clean them up and then fill them half way up with oil.

Why do you only fill them half way, wouldn't it make sence to fill them up all the way so it isn't splashing around?? I'm just curious

Well, I'll trust "they" and fill em half way.

I can only find 1,000 and 3,000 on tower, which do you suggest for the rear? (I found the 5,000 and 7,000)

Ok, good thing because I already ordered it. Thanks for all your help vbgagnon!! :D
