Hey all. So I picked up the RCAWD 2 speed transmission for my SCX24. I've been wanting to put a 2 speed in this rig, cuz I like it so much on my FMS 1/18.

The issue: it doesn't seem to shift between low and high gear. It seems the change would be noticable and when I move the servo for the switch, no change.

I took apart the housing, and of course gears, bearings fall everywhere that I was not expecting to happen. I think I put it back together properly, it works, but still no shifting. I took pictures of how I reassembled it. I think the synchro is in the proper location.

I'll try to get a video later once my kiddo is in bed.

I did before I messed with it 😄
Now it doesn't.
I probably put the synchro back in the wrong position?
Probably
I took the 2-speed from my UCX24 apart to count the pinion teeth, and I put it back together wrong. It only shifted into high and neutral. I haven't messed with it since. It's in the que.
The synchro is possibly on the wrong side of something.

I think I will have to try that next. It may be a little tricky
Yeah, it will be. But that may be the only way to understand what's going on.

If anybody wants to send me one, I'd be happy to go through it and put up a video on rebuilding it. Then I can send it back to whoever, or give it away in the next giveaway. But without having it in hand, it is hard to say what may be the hang up.

I can't swing any RC stuff this month or I would just grab one to see if I could help. But I really have no use for a 2 speed either.

No worries! I just like solving problems, so naturally I'm curious what is going on. I bought it off Scamazon so, it would be a very easy return. Ultimately, probably what I should do. 😄

There is iikely nothing wrong with it. Maybe just something needs a little tweaking. 2 speed transmissions are finicky enough in 1/10 scale sometimes. So that little one is probably just a little more touchy.

Yea I agree. Out of the box it never seemed to engage the gears as nice as I hoped (seems like something was slipping). Gear teeth all looked good. I'll play with it more before I give up on it. It definitely works and will drive, so there's that 😉

Send it back but keep the adapter plate🙃
Order a transmission that is branded FMS.
I told my husband exactly that last night!
I wondered if that adapter plate would work between the FMS and SCX24 skid plate...

The FMS 2 speed is only $30 too, I like it a lot on my 1/18...and it's quieter than this behemoth.

I'm kind of determined on getting this mod done now..Been a long time coming 😁

I am almost certain that's what the plate does.

First step...... get your bearings straight. 😝🤪

These 2 holes circled should be scx24 mounts? The 4 on top go to the FMS mount pattern?

Yea, 2 mounts are for SCX24. The 4 should be FMS mounting pattern.

The FMS housing doesn't have the 2 bolts to adapt to it. So been trying to figure out how I can make it work
