Hi my nitro truck has 2 gears and on sunday i only used 1st gear as i was at the skatepark. i took it out on tuesday and it wouldnt select second so then i leaned it to make it faster and it changed about 5 times then i started loosing top end power in first gear so it couldnt get into second. So then we tried ever adjustment to really lean to normal and it would select 2nd gear once then loose top end power again. Took it to the model shop and they adjusted the gear change timing earlier. So then we took it to the park and it selected second once again then it wouldnt select second and started loosing top end power so we tried every agjustment (leaning it) and it still will not change. and then i ran out of fuel.

Sounds like you need more space to run it into 2nd gear. Changing your mixture won't do anything for the shift point of the transmission. Find a big parking lot...or long road and see if you can get it to shift.

Tranny bad? Shift Point set way off? What kind of truck is it? Some other owners may be able to help out with specifics.

If you continue to lean the engine trying to get the transmission to shift, not only will you be fixing the transmission, you will be replacing the engine. Get the engine tuned properly, so there is good performance but still a noticeable amount of smoke, then adjust the shift point on the transmission, NOT THE MOTOR. Unless we know what type of rig you have there is no way to help you out much more. You need to just set the shift point lower so it shifts at about 80% of max engine RPM. That is usually where I try to set all of mine. Typically there is a small allen head set screw on the shifting mechanism built onto the spur gear assembly. If I remember correctly you will need to turn the set screw counter clockwise to lower the shift point, but not all of them are the same so you need to verify this first. Adjust it 1/4 turn at a time, then test run, 1/4 turn, test run etc. If it still doesn't work then you should dissasemble the unit and check to make sure everything is in working order. Again, DO NOT lean the engine out in an attempt to make it shift or you will damage the engine, especially when doing multiple full throttle passes!!

Macca Pacca if you would've traded me that mgt for the lst2 you wouldn't have that problem lol.
