I purchased a used Hyper 7 from a guy on RC Zone and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. It was supposed to have a high torque steering servo already installed and it doesn't. The servo that it installed right now barely turns the wheels with the buggy sitting on my bench. I am looking for one right now. I just posted in the FS/FT forum for one.

The buggy was so damn filthy. So I tore it complely down to the frame, gave everything a good cleaning and reassembled it. While doing that I figured I would tear the engine down to inspect that. Come to find out I have a crack in the left side of the case by the engine mount. I willl have to get a picture up to show you guys to see if it is going to be a problem. This is kinda been a weekend project so I have been cleaning it and inspecting parts as I go. The top of the piston head also has what I consider a major dent. He has no idea how it got their. Its kinda off center so I am not sure if it was caused by using too long of a plug.

The buggy didn't come with a body. When I asked him if it was RTR he told me yes but when I e-mailed him after I received the buggy he said a body is never included with an RTR. I know that is incorrect. Or at least when I purchased my RS4-2 it came with a body. Does any one know where I can get a prepainted body? It doesn't have to be anything great. I just want to get out for a little bit of bashing before old man winter arrives.

In the deal I also purchased an RB C12 for a friend an an OS10E carb so I could replace the stock 1 needle carb on my 15FE. The C12's crankshaft threads are all screwed up. It looks like he tried to crossthread em. My buddy will prolly have to buy a new crank. The spring in the PS was shot. And I still don't have the 10E carb after the deal. He said that "he must have forgot to put it in the package."

I am not really sure why I am posting this problem here. I guess I just wanted to vent. I am really pissed about how this turned out. I was looking forward to running the buggy as soon as I got it but all I have been doing it the general maintance that should have been done to begin with. Before I even sent him the money he told me that this was a buggy that he used every weekend and it was in great shape. If he used it every weekend he must have had constant problems. I don't know how it could have ran well with all of the things I have found so far. I thought I was saving my self some money by purchasing a used buggy so I could get out and start bashing with the buddies but all I have is headaches. Sorry about the length.

Thats sucks, sorry to hear you got burned. I would definately leave bad trader feedback on the forum you bought it on. You might help someone else to not get ripped off by the same guy. Since you put this here why not put his screen name too, so we can all avoid trading with him as well. I have got some really good deals on some of the other forums and have just been lucky enough to not have been ripped off yet. Again sorry to hear about all your problems.

Depending on where the crack is, I might have something that will fix it, post a pic and let me check it out. I have access to some great stuff, hopefully I can help you.

The guys real name is Joshua Briggs. His e-mail address is [email protected]. His nick on RC Zone is Ade. The last time I received an e-mail from his was 10-13-02. I just checked to see the last time he logged in and it was the same day. So he might have switched to a different name to avoid me. I just sent him an e-mail today to find out when I am going to see my OS 10E carb. I also have his home address if someone needs it.

Here is a picture of the cracked engine case.

Well I am always leary of doing deals with people online. I am not much for used stuff especially. What I do recommend is only purchasing with paypal. It cost the seller a mimal amount to use and it alows the buyer to use a credit card. Also this gives the buyer a bit of protection incaseu he gets some crap he can contest the purchase to paypal and to his cc company. It also helps me to belive the seller is more likly to be reliable. X

98% of all my deals online are paid for via PayPal or using a CC. I do a lot of trading on AnandTech.com and have had a lot of positive experiences on that forum. At AnadnTech we use heatware (www.heatware.com) as a rating system for buyers and sellers. I also only do business with people that are verified on PayPal and have equal or more heatware than I do. I have only been burned once and that was on eBay. But after 6 months of waiting for eBay to looking to the matter I got the last laugh and got all of my money back minus a $25 paper processing fee. I never really considered to back out of the deal because of the great communication we had until the deal was finished. Has anyone looked at the pictures yet? I am wondring if the engine is going to blow up in my face when I start this up for the first time. There is a guy who is selling a new Ofna .21 PS engine on RCNT but I haven't heard back from him yet. I should be placeing my order for my new servos at the end of this week.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I checked out your crack, I think I have your best shot at a repair. Belzona, this is some really cool stuff. It's like an epoxy, but has metal flake that when starts to catalyze with its hardener, melts into a weld. It has been used to repair a blown head at sea! no BS, check out this link.
This stuff is the best in the world, hands down. Now if you want to try it I will see if I can get you a small amount for free because buying a kit of it is more than you whole vehicle. PM me if you want to try it and I will pull some strings.magic stuff

Wow. Sounds like some good stuff. Ya if you can get me a small amount go ahead and I will give that a try. Just incase I think I have a line on a case. :)
