Hey guys I konw I dont post all that often but this I have to post. Yesterday while going over my Credit card statement I saw a charge from Pluto D from Nicosia Cy (some where near the country of turkey) for $29.99 with a phone number 888-323-8955. Going through my mind I realized I never ordered this stuff because I was at work all that day that it was charged. I called the number and got an answering machine, then I did a search online no number listed. I search for Pluto D and this is what I got. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12704660~root=scambusters~mode=flat
Its a huge scam. They are only hitting people for like 30 bux a card. I asked my brother inlaw if he had anything on his statement he said no. Well about 15 min later his cc company called saying someone charge 29.99 with the name Pluto D. (or Pluto Data) We both have changed our cc numbers and might run credit reports. Sorry so long but I want to give you guys a heads up and make sure noone else gets screwed (on that link I sent there is like 30 pages of complaints from the same company around the same dates Feb 16-22. Hope all is well for you guys

Thanks for posting this.
I will go over my statements post haste.

Any idea where they got your card number?
Do you and your brother share similar banking habits like the same CC company?
Its just to weird that you both would get the same charge. There has to be a connection.

this is why I only use Debit cards and can see every time I'm on the PC what is going on w/ my money.......that sucks mike...I had problems like that w/ the local tex mex restaurant I went to a lot...the waiters were copying card info and ordering stuff online....stupid assholes thoughht they wouldn't get caught.....I had almost 500 bucks in dvds and porn site subscriptions in 1 month.....some people are just stupid....hope these guys get caught...but the reality of them being in turkey they probably won't...and to make this even more of an enraging situation, this is how most terrorist cells fund small projects....

Nice catch, thanks for the headsup. What kind of card was it if you don't mind me asking? AmEx, Visa, etc.. I travel both domestic and internantional quite regulary and have been lucky but I keep a close eye on my statements. Funny things is our travel habit with work really throw the cc companies off but they sometimes call us to make sure we are actually where we say we are and double check a charge, especially AmEx. We recently did a trip that was 14 cities in 6 countries in 7 days. One of the stops was a place you don't need a script for Viagra or Cialas so one of our pilots loads up. Well his cc company called his home and asked his wife his whereabouts cause previous day we had charges in FL, then the next day he had $150 in Pharmaceuticals plus other stuff in another country. She just laughed and said it was ok.

The issue with a debit card is the money comes directly out of your account and can cause bounced checks further compounding the issue. You should check with your bank because in many cases debit cards are not protected against fraud. I cut my Wells Fargo debit card the minute I receive it in the mail. Wells Fargo offerers 0 fraud protection with a debit card. My Credit cards offer 100% if its not mine I loose nothing.

Still trying to figure out how they got the #'s, my sister in laws card was bank one(?) and mine was a Visa. I hardly ever use that card. I thought it was the one I use when I shop on amazon, but that wasn't it. Yea it does suck, my sister in law and I use totally different banks and banking habits. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the credit info company some where midwest that was broken into. Well I'll keep you guys updated if i hear/see anymore stuff.

Yeah I do have protection but I have 2 checking accounts...1 that my paycheck gets deposited to and all my checks that I write are drawn from...the 2nd account just has money I put into it for my debit card...I have it tied to my savings account for overdraft up to 300 bucks...I figure thats a reasonable ammount to be aware of in my account at all times...this way I only have to balance one account for bills and the other one is like keeping track of how much money I have in my wallet....I've been doing my banking like this for over 12 years now and I've only had 3 checks bounce on me 2 from my not paying attention and 1 cause the bank screwed up.....and it's very convenient if you ever have charges you want to contest cause you close one account easier and open a new one....no more pilfering of my card number......
