They're definitely crazy!
I would love to read the prompts lol

I too would enjoy a trip to RC in a different region.

I went to BC a few years ago (2024) and it was b e a utifil! We landed in Vancouver, stayed along the water and then took a ferry to Victoria where we stayed a few days. Did some whale watching and just had an amazing time in general. The water taxis were so..umm..cute? Fun..let's go with fun.

It rained almost the entire trip but that felt very on brand for what I was picturing.

I remember back in the day there would be an RC TV show on cable television. They would feature different LHS's across the country and their local scene; every race or event they showed in BC was muddy and in the rain.

Thanks man. I am hoping if I flood the field the math should work out to take SOMETHING home LOL
BC is definitely beautiful, but out on the coast where you were they definitely see a TON of rain, I'm more in the kooteney region so we get a better mix of weather

Oh man i remember watching rc tv! Do you remember the video they did at crawler teds garage? Ahh those were the good old days

RC TV that was the name. How could I have forgotten that LOL

I used to have a bunch of them on my PVR which was a Sony DVD-R unit, but the discs have rot now.

Crawler Ted! Man!

They used to feature a guys crazy back yard here too but I can't remember his name. His course was so sick. When I got in the scene I actually helped haul a ton of stone back from the quarry in my 08 ram. I think RC TV was long done by that point.

From that time period I remember it being a big deal when you could get 7 to 10 trucks/guys at a crawling event (here anyway) crawling hadnt taken off.

Jeeze now you almost have to cap the amount of entrants

To be totally fair we featured a lot of winter segments LOL

Don't forget the free food! 😉 🤣

I think it would be fun to see these comps. I'm not sure I could do all day tho.

Good luck!!!

Oh wow, what a day!

I am so sunburnt! I brought sunscreen but didn't deploy it. Ah well.

Unfortunately I got there late so I missed a bit of the show and shine but I did a quick run around to grab a few pictures.

Run/day video

The turn out was awesome! I BBQ'd 48 hot dogs 32 hamburgers!

For my buddies first event ever it went super well. He's a little irritated at one of the other title sponsor because they did close to nothing. He said Prairie RC should have been listed instead 😬

I supplied a BBQ and stand, three mini propane bottles, the cooking tools, a folding table (thank goodness I packed it) and I cooked for three hours. Literally and literally.

It was a great time, glad to see everyone and having people thank me for my contribution was enough for me. 😁

Plus I got to check the spot out and get some great shots of the Optic.

Smiles for miles and nothing broke; the perfect day!

Alright, next comp was announced!

Just to recap, I recently found out that the H10 took home the Best Sportsman Truck Trophy!! The host lives out of town so I'll receive it at the next comp.

Speaking of which, here we go;

I am going to be entering the Prodigy RC Delano rig, VP Stance and if there is enough entries I'll bring the K5 Ascender to compete in 1/10 scale.

Things to do;

The Prodigy needs different tires. I have my eyes in JCI Ruptures in 2.2 C3.

Major bummer. I can't make the 25th.

It's not the end of the world for me. I am not totally satisfied with the foams I am currently using so this removes any pressure to compete with the truck as it sits. This will give me a chance to do more tuning before the new event.

I may still head out to the location regardless.
There are a few out of towners who are coming anyways as they cannot change their travel plans last minute.

Bummer, maybe they will postpone again, on a day you can make it. 🤣
You're like a clairvoyant!
The host said the same thing in response to my statement on FB.

How hot is it supposed to be?...
The forecast says its going to be 90f - 90+ but it's going to feel like 100f + with the humidity.

There is almost zero shade there so I understand they don't want to take on the liability of someone passing out.

I went out there yesterday to see if people had been out to mark anything. All the trails were completely overgrown.

I had my suspicions something was up. Either that or people were going to be very busy Thursday + Friday.

The other thing to consider is these events are just community organized. I doubt they have provisions for a stand by ambulance and whatnot.

As a business owner in today's climate, I understand. The second a group of people put their names on something to sponsor it there is the risk of damages.

All that being said it looks like roughly a dozen folks have confirmed they will be attending anyway.

The nice thing now is there is flexibility to hang out in the car for a bit to cool down while changing rigs.

I know I'm going to have to invest in pop up shade at some point, maybe for next year?

Please tell me this is home video oh you having a hootenanny!?

It'll be fun, less pressure which helps in the fun department lol.

@xjtorc
No doubt!
I've actually been able to get away without one until this season. When I was racing the facilities always seemed to have plenty of shade provided.

Crawling or parking lot racing is different in that aspect because you're going to a facility.

My beard is as long and as white. He's got better moves than me tho.

I dance like Elaine.

I think the highest temp I remember racing in was right around 100F, and many times it hits 90+, but most of us bring Canopies and Fans to try to keep cool. Driver's stand has a roof/shade, but Turn Marshalling can be brutal in the Sun.

Those aren't Blackberries, but if they're edible - feast! :D

Blueberries! Big fat ones!!! Yummo!!!

Believe it or not guys, I totally missed them until editing the video. I was too busy trying not to fall on my butt.

At least I know where some trail snacks are for Saturday!! 😜

@WRM
I hear ya! On race days we would be out there.
Especially after the summer we've had. June has been essentially non stop rain. We have so much moisture now the RH is crazy and the storms are basically self feeding.
