new legislation will come quickly giving the ftc the power to to enforce the do not call list.

This judge is barking up the wrong tree. What he doesn't understand is that I dont want ANY CALLS at all. The only time I want to hear my phone ring is if it is a friend or a family member. I don't want some charity at 7pm either. Of course as far as I can remember I have yet to receive a call from a charity organization so his ruling is on very shakey ground. He says the DNC calls lists abuses certain status and gives unfair treatment against telemarkets. This is so weak. These two judges just wants to make a name for themseleves so they can move up the food chain. Who wants to give odds that the telemarketers have their hands in the judges pockets?

it's very easy, when a telemarketer calls say do not call me again. the law clearly says that they cannot call again, even if they are doing business with you.

While this is true and I do when I actually pick up the phone and get a telemarketer. However I am sure my number is on so many lists that it would take a while to get rid of the majority of the calls. The DNC list does this for me with one crack of the bat.

the lists usually come via third parties that you can buy or they can be supplied for free if you are using thier services or selling thier products. we hired telemarketers in the past years to drum up leads but because of it becomming unpopular over the most recent years made us re-think some of our marketing tecniques. i did not like to receive calls so why would anyone else want to be bothered. we registerd our personal phones and fax machine on the dnc site and as soon as we did we started getting blast faxes at home on an almost daily basis. go figure...

I try to tell these stupid SOB's not to call me but I usually get dont ever ca.....*click*....so now I answer you stupid mofo's dont you ever f'in call me again....one company had the balls to call me 8 times in one day. I can't repeat what I said.. I dont want to get anyone in trouble on this site. me~~> :whack: <~~~telemarketers

For those of you who dont know, their is a form of harassment that if you actually 'TAPE' the calls and/or would have the call records to prove they are harassing you (calling after you tell them not to, much less 8 times in one day) can pay you some cash quickly and easily.

I run call centers (no, not telemarketing, we call if you owe someone money legally) and the laws are clearly defined. Telemarketers run under the same principal laws. If any of you have an attorney friend, and can prove that a telemarketing company is harassing you, its at least worth a shot. If anything, you might walk away with enough to buy a couple R/C's. This all depends on the number of violations. 8 would get you a few :bling:

I dont promote suing the poop out of everyone. Not by a long shot. But telemarketers by far think that they have no boundaries and need not respect the laws or your privacy. For that very reason I feel as if everyone should know their rights. And in this area, you have more than you know.

The DNC list, when finally solitified and enforced will be good no matter how you look at it.

At least when our company calls the same people they will know we are not trying to sell them anything and will take us more seriously.

I was reading on the net that because of the large reponse to the DNC list the DMA will respect people's wishes for the time being until the courts can hash this out.
