ok so school was cancles today for my little girl so i took her to walmart and bought her something to play with and on the way home i got pulled over by a new cop in town for no reason that i could think of well he walked up to the truck and asked me if i could get out so he doesn't get a cramp in his neck from looking up so i did and he asked for license and regestration and proof of insurance so i gave him everthing he wanted and he went to his car and i sat in mine after about 15 to 20 mins he came back and again asked me to get out so i did and he said DO YOU KNOW WHY I PULLED YOU OVER and i said no and he said my truck isnt legal to drive on the streets and i asked why not (I've been driving the truck for about 5 months now) and he said where do you want me to start and i said anywhere so he started naming off things that wernt legal to him first thing was it too tall, then the windows are too dark , then the sticker in the rear window is too big, then the tires are too big,the exhaust is too loud, and he couldnt see the license plate clearly so i asked why havnt i been pulled over be4 he said cus he hasnt ever seen me(on monday i went for coffee and he was there doing the same thing) so i said this is the way i bought the truck from the dealer and i took it to the state patrol office and had them check the truck to make sure it was ok and they cleared it and gave me a number in case i ever get pulled over so i tried to tell the cop this and he basically told me i was crazy so i got into the truck and got the number and told him to check it out. well after 10 minutes of arguing he finally went to his car and checked it out he then came back and told me ok the truck was cleared but he doesn't know if he is going to ok it and i said well if the state oks it then why wont he. he then said well i guess i could just ticket you for not being able to see my plate and i stated i just got out of the car wask booth and i dont see how he can see the plate then we wlked back the the rear end of the truck and i showed him that the plate can be seen very easy and he said well sit in my car and youll see what i mean so i did and sure enough i couldnt see the plate that good so i asked him what if i miove the plate higher so it can be seen easier and he staed "why not just lower the truck" and i replied "do you relize what it takes to make a truck smaller" and he said Do you think i am stupid and i said no so another cop that i knew came and asked if there was a problem and i said yes and explained to him what was going on and he said i could go he would take care of it so i left and came home and started checking my email and i heard a knock on the door so i answerd it and it was the first cop that pulled me over and i asked if i could help him and he said you forgot this and he gave me my license and regestration and proof of insurace back and said IF YOU THINK YOU GOT AWAY YOU HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING and he walked away so i contacted the police station and told the cheif what was going on and he replied THIS ISNT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS COP so i asked what was going to be done about it and he said he would talk to him about it and if he gives me any more problems to contact him right away. well needless to say that this day has been very interesting to me and i hope i dont have anymore problems with this cop. i think its a NEW COP THING cause it has happend to me be4 with a new cop so i thought i would see what you al thought about my day hope you find this story as interesting as i have thanx and have a nice day:wasted:

Its called the "BIG peepee" syndrome all new cops have it there out to prove something to themselves apparently or there the ones in school who got flicked alot of chit so now that they have a badge they figure they can flick the chit right back and get away with it, its bullchit but all you can do is keep your cool and go with the flow of it.

That cop is a certified FOOL and weakling. He thinks he is tough let this cop stop a gang of bikers and tell them thier bikes are too loud and they wear IMPROPER attire and have menacing looks.

There is a name that fits cops like this...PIGS. :sniper:

You have good cops and bad ones with the "tiny" syndrome, you met one with a very inflated "tiny" syndrome.

Here some flash their lights when they pass on red lights to get faster to a donut place, when there is a special.

Id hate to see that cop in my town. Theres trucks that are jacked up so high I can park the nose and the bed of my truck under them (its been done). Also there is a law here about the loudness of exhaust but apparently the rules dont apply to the hillbillys around here. Also them ricers with there fart cans are damn loud. I never got into that really. Unless its a built motor making it loud. Then its all gravy. Sucks to hear about your run in with the dude. Hopefully he doesn't mess with ya to bad, or actulally hopefully he does then ya can get his ass fired..lol.. keep us posted.

Is your driver side window tinted? You can't tint them here so cops can see in (safety for them). Exhuast is like 95 decibels at 100 feet I think. And your not supposed to raise your car past a point (yours is ok but people here got them up so high you need a ladder and they never see a hint of dirt.) I Saw an accident with a raised truck and it just annihilated a car, almost took the roof off. Never heard of tires too big. Also your not supposed to have any coverings over license plates here, even if they're clear. But that guys just an ass though, he probably gets off by harrassing people and feeling superior.

But honestly I wish cops here would get off their ass and write more tickets. People doing 60 in a school zone with kids is not cool. My ass getting run over in a cross walk by a guy running a red light is not cool. The list goes on...

What race is he? Have him beat your ass and get the ACLU on him! I'm sure those bloodsuckers would jump at the thought of sueing the cops.:hehe:

I know here were i live the bottom of your bumper cannot exceed 36" in height so unless yours exceeds that he's feeding you a line of :horsecrap, but then again i dont know the law were you live.

I think it's more of a "little peepee" syndrome. Meaning they have a little peepee so they become a cop to boost their ego.

For some of them it is just an ego trip. It goes to their head. Don't get me wrong there are some that get into it because they want to help people. We do need them. Not to hassle someone for stupid poop like that....

Seems like bumber height here is about 36."

As far as I know you could paint the back window. Don't come down to far on the windshield with the tint.
They have a light meter or something they use to check the side glass. 35% sound right? Not sure.

Don't have a clue about exaust. A lot of the younger guys around have 6's with what sounds like straight pipes to me.
I know some of you get off on that. Don't get me wrong. Whatever floats your boat. It's just too loud. And to me, doesn't sound right.
'Ol Lady's Bronco has a flowmaster on it. That v-8 sounds great just sitting there idling. But if we go anywhere it sux. And it isn't that loud.

Watch yourself bro. Try to be nice to the little prick. Watch your speed and all of that. He thinks you made an ass out of him. Figure he will be watching you pretty close.

You sure you don't live in my town, supermaxx? My car is basically the same way; 5% tint on the rear-three windows (legal in CA, according to the vehicle code), with the front three left alone. And a stereo system that knocks people around two cars away. Which, btw, is never turned up beyond 5. I might have an idiots radio, but not an idiots lack of decency.

The cops around here swarm on you if you even come close to thinkin about donuts. However, you can speed your rear end off, and they won't do jack. They also harrass the highschool students. They'll literally patrol the parking lot when the kids get out. So, around 3:30pm, if you have to get somewhere fast, you can speed and the chances of getting caught are slim-to-none.

Once they pull you over, however, it's Roscoe P Coltrain time. I once had one stop me because I was walking. Wearing jeans, combat boots, black leather jacket, gloves (it was cold out), black hat (Queensryche, no less) and ear rings... oh, and long hair. Total metal-head look. Did I mention I was carrying a can of electric motor cleaner, freshly bought from napa, the reciept in hand and the label clearly visable?

Here's the punchline; the Enos thought I was spraypainting, and that I was a gangmember. He actually put my name on a list of gangmembers. It took a threat of a lawsuit, and the proof that I wasn't a gangmember (had to literally strip in front of the idiot to prove a lack of tattoos) to get my name off the list and an apology in writing (moms can be such great convincers... I was 17 at the time).

The real punchline is the idiot stalked me for a good mile. When he finally had the guts to pull me over (he probably figured I was getting too close to a neighborhood.... where I lived!!), I told him he needed to work on his following techniques. I knew he was after me from the instant I saw him... Probably didn't make him too happy, eh?

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the first pic was the tires are too wide and the windows are too dark. Here the tires can't stick out pass the fender at all and the windows can't go darker than 35% on the sides, and the bumper height is 30 something inches, but they don't enforce these regulations unless you give them a hard time, them they bring up poop you have never heard of. But it sounds like the guy was giving you a hard time just to fiddlesticks with you.

^^I thought the same thing, except I didnt notice the windows but just expected the truck to be loud..lol.. Its a nice looking truck though. But yeah, my guess would be a small wang and to much time on his hands.

i used to catch hell all the time for my truck too. only they said it was too low... in texas the law is that no part of your vehicle can be lower than the lowest point of the wheel rim. in my case i wasn't illegal unless i was dragging the frame. you'd be surprised how many cops really don't know the laws.
HeatWave1003.gif

i live in a small town and we all get the same crap every time there's a new cop. all you can do is just say "yes sir" and fix it in court. eventually he will run into the wrong guy and will get his ass handed to him. then he will realize that cops have to be polite just like the rest of us if they're going to get cooperation from anybody.

here's the site with the REAL laws. i always kept a copy of mine in the glove box just in case.

that truck isnt big. i see trucks twice that size every day.... hes full of poop.

and truth, you say you were ony illegal when dragging the frame,

i know for a fact then that you were illegal MOST of the time!!! lol damn i loved that truck

In maine you can't have any more then a 3 inch lift, the tires have to stay inside the fenders or fender flares. Exhaust has to be under 99db, tint cannot be any darker then 50%, cannot be lowered whatsoever. They have provisions in place to stop the big rim craze. So within a few years you going to have to run the stock size wheel/tire. Its messed up.

Ben, that's messed up. Will they allow you to run an optional rim and tire size? By that, let's say Chevy offers the stock Tahoe in a15" rim, but they make as an option a 17". If you bought a base model with the 15's, could you go up to the 17's?

What Iv'e been hearing is no. The worse that I've heard is guys buying base model work trucks, adding bigger tires (because they work in the woods) and they will not pass inspection. Its pretty stupid if you ask me!

Maybe there will be an exemption for commercial plate trucks.

And for the original thread, that does suck. In CA your truck would not get past the cops for the windows, but the rest looks legal.

I almost forgot, we're supposed to have emmissions laws like you guys in CA, but we don't have the test facilities up and running yet. When those come I'll have to get a new car. :(

Well I AM a law enforcement officer and the only thing that I would give you a hard time about is the window tint on the side windows. That is because it is an officer safety issue and possibly a safety issue for you as well. You get a nervous cop walking up to your window and he can't see and you are moving around getting you license or registration or whatever and he panics......

Tires are sticking out too far but really not so bad that you would be harrassed by anyone in my county. It would give me a reason to ticket you if YOU were a prick to me for no reason.

I make every effort to be decent to people everytime I have contact with them. There are occassions when being a peepee is unavoidable and if someone gets nasty with me first, watch out, I am going to ruin your day. Even though being pulled over sucks, stay calm, be polite and respectful and don't try to make up some lame excuse for why you where doing what you were doing. I write more tickets for bad attitudes then for violations of law.

it all comes down to The Golden Rule. you know...do unto others...unless they're a jerk and then you're just screwed.
