Hey guys... I'm looking to replace my washer & dryer with some "Top O the line" units... lol
Can anyone recommend some units, or even a place to read reviews on them?
I've been looking at the Fisher & Paykel brand which was recommended by a friend.
Any help is greatly appreciated..

I'd stay away from front loaders, especially the Kenmoore/Sears brand. From reviews I've read on the net and also from personal experience, the front loaders do not last for more than 2-3 years. I had a $700 Kenmoore front loader that went kaput at 25 months right after the warranty expired. Sears wanted $300 to fix it with a 1 year warranty. I ended up buying a brand new top loader for less than the cost of fixing the old unit. Since we are moving soon, I didn't bother with getting a nice unit, just needed something to do the job.

In the next house, we will be getting either a F&P or Whirpool top loader. Both have low profile agitators.

I always delegate this stuff to my wife......she is going to be the only one using it.....well she is teaching the teenagers to do their own laundry.....but for me as long as it works ....who cares....I know thats silly....that is why she decides that stuff.....we have GE gear now and we have had it for years.....sry to be of no help here....I am just ignorant of such things..;)

I am a firm believer that stuff build within the last 5 years have parts that are designed to fail so the consumer needs to have it repaired or better yet, replaced. Even a repair guy I had out to replace a part on my washer believed this was the case. He said he is out repairing more units purchased within the last few years than on older units. My set is about 8 years old. My in-laws have gone through 3 sets within the last 5 years and we do twice as much laundry as they do.

I had a GE washer for 22 years, and in that time I replaced the water pump ($30) and the drive belt. The next one was a Maytag, and I left it behind when I moved. 8 years with zero maintenance. It's probably still working, after almost another 8 years.

I went with LG front loader washer and dryer because my wife said so.Plus I was told that LG makes the best front loaders on the market. And it goes with our LG dishwasher, range and refrigerator. So far all of them are working great.
