Injora sells a pretty awesome chassis set to convert the trx4m into exactly what your looking for.. you should check it out.

Imo stock trx4m's are definitely more of a trail truck then actual crawlers. Either a little tweaking they can be fantastic though.

great idea, love yours

That isn't mine. But I'm darn close to building something very close with that chassis/body out of 1 of my trx4's. Problem is I like both mine how they are for trail rigs so... who knows what ill do. Definitely not me, I never know what I'm doing 😂

I am surprised that Traxxas hasn't made a more comp style crawler instead of just trail rigs. There seems to be a market for them. I see rtr's from Vanquish, Axial, and many others that out perform a rtr TRX4.

I'm surprised also. They already have most of the parts laying around between trail rigs they could very easily add a decent crawler.

Thanks, I was looking at something like the open wheel buggy type crawlers. I live close to the Traxxas store here in Texas. They have done me very good on a truck and boat. There service is great.

I think they could do very well in this market, but it may be a volume issue that drives their product development. I feel the H10 Optic is the high-water mark for perfection in the open-wheel buggy / crawler market, but their volume is most likely nothing near what Traxxas would need to justify that product.

If you scan the market, looking at Element, Redcat, ect, the trucks seem to dominate the sales volume. Axial has the Capra, so that's a player and has a good track history on sales.

Right now, if I was at Traxxas, the real question would be where could they improve on the H10, and that would be the remote locking diffs, two-speed transmission, and portals. They gotta offer it with portals. With a good cage and scale details, I think that's a + $600 Traxxas. Is there a market for that?

I don't think they can beat Vanquish on overall quality, but they can leverage their much larger resource base to build such a thing. My favorite machine in our fleet of 20 crawlers is easily the H10 Optic as a 2.2 with portals; it's the ultimate trail machine.

I think this is part of it.

I think they could, but I do not believe they desire too. I feel they're very satisfied with their position in the market. They offer a wide range of products mostly catering towards either a first time buyer or perhaps this is your second or third RC.

Competition crawler guys tend to be long term hobbyists; they typically know their way around a rig. A Traxxas that's plastic fantastic, and nickel & dimes you to death isn't going to hit that target.

Plus, in Canada it would probably end up being like 2k for a 1/10th comp crawler RTR...with the Titan motor still in their 🤣
