Colt 1/10 tragic touring car bash

Hi all.
New to the RC car world and in need of a little help. After being given a Thunder Tiger i got the bug and decided as this car was a little temprimental to buy a new one.I decided on the Colt 10 nitro touring car.
Well i got a little over enthusiastic with it and it didnt take me long to wipe it out,hit a fence post and bust the wheel struts on the front left wheel.Like i said I'm new to all this and was wanting to know how hard a repair like this is to undertake myself...
I got the new parts on order,so any info or tips regarding a repair of this nature from you guys would be much appreciated.

my wife said you should be arrested for doing that kinda damage.
