I installed the 64 bit version of win 7 and I can't get it on line. I'm on my laptop, so my wireless router through the
DSL is working fine.
I'm told it can't find the network adapter.
So, now what do you recommend?

my niece had a similar problem with hers the other day ...had to turn the laptop antenna on by pressing the button ....but I'm sure you thought of that ;) ..:hehe:

it was saying it couldnt find the network adapter

Do you have the drivers that came with the motherboard? You will need to install the 64-bit drivers for the ethernet card.

yea check your device manager and verify all the drivers are installed. Also make sure the wifi adapter is turned on. some have a key combo with "Fn key" and one of the F keys. some have a hardware switch.

Blanked out on the Mobo disc. I'll try that.

Tried device manager and it can't upgrade the driver since it doesn't find the adapter.

This isn't for the wireless laptop but the new PC.

sorry misread your first post. the device manager should have something listed, even though its unknown. If that is the case, then yes all you need is a driver. you may have to visit the vendors site and download it on the laptop then transfer it to the desktop via usb drive or something.

once you do so, if it lets you online, i would advise to check the site anyway, for updated drivers. I had a laptop that was extremely slow as far as network connections. I found an updated driver on the manufacture site, and it fixed it right up.

I'm on the super computer! That's all it took. Now I have LOTS of updates to get before it's all running correctly.

Thanks so very much. It's nice to know I can count on you when I get stupid. :D

Just wanted to add for your drivers make sure you goto the asus website and update to all the latest drivers for your motherboard model. also if you have a graphics card do the same. staying on top of the latest drivers is essential to keep a pc running well :)

I had that issue when I formatted windows7 the other day on my laptop.. Now I have all of my drivers on a handy little flash drive.

There are also utilities that allow you to make a bootable USB flashdrive that has the full Windows install disk. Unfortunately the one I found only works on Vista/Win 7.
