If I were to get a X-Terminator RTR, or a Hyper 7 RTR, could I just put on some light MT tires, like bowties and bash around my yard, I know I would have to gear down abit, but would it work. I did a search but I could not find a difinitive answer.

Thanks

I wasn't able to with my HB lightning. I tried running a light set of imex t-maxx tires. I'd have to regear the diffs and buy a new spur (about $80, $100 with wheel adapters). I went as small as I could with the CB (13T) and it was still really bad.

I bought a set of the OFNA blazer wheels/tires off a member and tried that last weekend. It's still geared a little high. I think I might be able to get away with just getting a little bit bigger spur.

if you haven't bought tires yet get the Panther Pythons and drop your CB as low as you can...sportwerks makes a 12t CB.....Larger Spur gears don't drop th eratio much unless you jump real big......Olds...I have an extra Kyosho spur gear I can mod for you to use as the adapter plate...and a 65t Plastic OFNA Spur....PM me if you're interested....

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why do you have to regear the diffs?

you don't NEED to regear the diffs....most buggies as they sit will not accomodate a larger spur gear so you can take the other route and do the diffs.....I think Olds found the Hotbodies Diff gear set is a lower ratio in th ediff...this will ultimately lower your final drive ratio.....I think most 1/8 scales are like 3.5:1 or 3.8:1 something like that.....I looked at the primary drive cause I didn't know about the diffs olds found.....

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'll need to go much lower. It's just a little sluggish off the line.

I didn't like how it handled anyway with the t-maxx sized tires. The chassis is to short for that much centrifigul force. Makes it always nose high or half flip of a jump. But, if you checked out my recent vid's with the blazer tires, you can see that I don't have the centrifigul problem, just a tad sluggish problem.

I think I'm stock with 45 for the spur. I can go up to 50T with the stadium spur. If that isn't enough, I'll try the 12T cb you mentioned, but I think it will be just enough to make me happy. I think I'm running a 13T now.

Then there's this... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJBM9&P=7 What does HB make that's street?

UMMM... maybe for onroad use only with the buggy, thats how HPI's MT 2speed tranny was, it said for on road use only?

Yeah its the Lightning Street, its HB onroad car.

You can make a truggy for around what a Mammoth ST costs, maybe a little more depending on the buggy you are using. If anyones interested I can make a list up, kinda what I did for a truggy.

Jon, Scott made that gear custom.....it's a one off.....I was PM'ing him alot when I was building mine...Oh BTW you guys have all inspired me to finish mine too....all this talk about truggies made me want to get off my ass and do it....during th ehurricane I drilled out the last parts I made and mounted everything up....bolted my Fantom .27 that's been sitting since I got it back and broke it in on a stand.....did all my little adjustments and ...............THE F'ING ENGINE FLAMES OUT....never got it over 210 even during break in.......I think I got a lemon.....this was the 2nd .27 I got and it's NOTHING like th efirst one I had......last nite I dropped a VZ in it...tonite is the test.....

NOW where's the truggy forum??? LOL

VB I feel ya......I'm not going to go wage a war until it looks like it's a bigger crowd though.....I agree w/ the reasons given in "that thread"

LOL,sorry guys!! :hammer: I can see putting the thread in when more come out, which will be SOON.............

I am going to list a "truggy" in new ARTR form, but you can pick up used stuff and the mill/radio stuff is up to you.

I am going to base it on a Ofna MBX2. Not the newest/best around, but it does make a really good cheap truggy. You can other Ofna LX buggies with how I am doing this, but not the Hyper series, remnember this is the "cheaper" way and you can find parts on sleaze bay REALLY cheap!!
$179.95
http://www.nitrohouse.com/ofna_ultra_mbx_r2.htm

These are extenders, you can use the 17mm to Tmaxx adapters, but i'm using 17mmhub extenders you can use 15mm OR 30mm, i'm using the 30mm
$16.96

The wheels are the Dominator rims, and the tires are up to you and the track.
$17.56 and $23.96X2=$47.92

Then you need body posts and a body

Here is the Re-gear, it can be done many ways, but here is one way like the Mammoth ST. You can use your srevo plate if you clearance it a LITTLE.
$50......it says more on the site, but he sold it to me for $50
http://perfplusparts.netfirms.com/conkit.html

With the regear you MAY need to raise the servo,or space the linkage up some. He does include the linkage.

That is a BASIC truggy. This works out well if you already have a used buggy laying around. I use Ofna white springs on mine and I used Monster Pirate body mnts.

Grand total $316.40 + shipping. That is w/o a mill, pipe, radio, or servos. Sounds like a lot, BUT most people just sell off the RTR equipment they get anyway. Like I said, this is BEST to do with used stuff.

RCDriver just did a truggy build up in their last issue usind a Violator and a 2 spd to regear. Page 112

You can also just buy this

Yeah its a newer buggy, but we are going for cheap.
And I dont know if the regear I have will work for that.
