I just noticed something a few days ago while charging that has me scratching my head...

On my rc18t pack, a 2s 1500mah lipo, the line that has my deans connector is marked something like "To ESC ONLY, DO NOT CHARGE"...

I've always charged it using the astro blinky balancer plugged into the other line that says charge using this line, and the input from my charger into the deans wire marked "to esc only". It says it about a blue million times in the manual not to charge from that line, but why?

My LHS told me to hook it up the way I do, and I've never had a problem. I'm just worried I may be doing damage or risking my safety in charging this way.

Also, when I charge I'm checking my voltage constantly...and it always stops charge around 8.39v which is exactly as it should right?

Not sure what brand pack you have, but my MaxAmps 1550 pack I use in my 18T is charged through the normal battery wires that have my deans connector. The balancing tap is used for balancing only.

My pack also tops off at about 8.4 volts fully charged.

Some of the older packs were labeled this way to prevent users from charging without a balancer. You will only see them on small capacity packs though, as the balancing tap wires cannot handle very much current.

That's the pack I'm running in it. Yeah, I thought that made more sense, I was trying to figure out why the heck I should have to charge through the tiny little wires when I have the heavy gauge wire. Never a bad thing to second guess when it comes to lipo I suppose.

Still need to get a sack for my lipo and wrap it up...:hehe:

Ah, well thanks for all the input. I knew this one would be a quick open and shut case. Thanks again guys.
