I wanted some advice on what setting should I charge my Venom 7.2v 3600mah NiMH Batteries on the MRC super brain 960. I purchased this charger about 3 years ago and can't find the instructions for it. Just getting back into it and the only instructions I have was to charge my JR radio. Thanks in advance...David.

Thanks for the quick find but that doesn't have me a list of setting for difference batteries...

You could charge that at 2 or 3 amps and be fine, and you could charge it at 4 or 5 amps sometimes if you're in a big hurry, just watch the heat. I'm not sure what other settings you may be referring to, it's a 6 cell battery if that's an option.

I just read the instructions that Rob posted. The mV is the voltage for the peak detection. It has auto settings, and it says that if you're not an advanced used you can just ignore this setting and it will automatically select the correct voltage.

This is from the plug and play directions:
6. The charge rate, time and voltage can be viewed by pressing the “Display” button.
NOTE: If the delta peak voltage threshold has not been set manually, ignore the display
for the delta peak voltage threshold. The value displayed is irrelevant.

This is from the advanced users section:
4. The charger has the ability to select the optimum delta peak voltage threshold for each
battery
. Experienced users may wish to set the delta peak voltage threshold. Press the
“Display” button until “mV” appears at the top of the screen, then press the “Adjust”
button to select the voltage level
NOTE: Once the Delta Peak threshold is set manually, the charger will use this setting
even if it is not an appropriate setting for the battery. We recommend most customers
allow the charger to select the delta peak voltage threshold.

What if you messed with it and then read the directions. Now the mV has been set manually by accident and it will no longer auto detect. How do you switch it back to auto detect? What is mV and does it work? Milla volt ?

I did some research and this seems to be more a personal choice of opinion than a guideline. Basically, the lower that you set the number, the more sensitive that the charger is and the more likely that it is to detect a false peak. Once you've set it, you need to monitor your battery while it's charging. If the batteries reach that point where the temperature begins to increase signifigantly and the charger hasn't peaked, then you need lower the threshold. Basically you want them to peak before they get hot. If they get hot, lower the mv. If your batteries are false peaking, raise the mv.

I'm sure some of the veterans could give you a specific range to start with, but I think it's going to vary with each charger and battery setup. I'm no pro when it comes to this stuff, I'm just trying to better help you understand how it works after talking to some old school electric racers.

Thanks..I appericate the help!. Spoke with someone at my LHS and they game me some settings for my batteries.
