Hey Peeps,

I have a Maxx 3.3 and I currently use 8 2300mah NiMH rechargeable batteries for my Transmitter. The thing is my charger takes approx 12-18 hrs to charge 4 batteries (it only holds 4).

So my question is... If I were to buy a Duratrax Digital Peak charger DTXP4005 and a 4 or 8 AA battery holder how long would it take to charge my 2300mah? According to that charger's manual, you shouldn't charge AA's at a rate higher than 1A.

Or would buying this charger be a total waste of money just to charge AA's (although I could charge my 6 cell power pack for my EZ-Start or any other unforeseen batteries I might acquire in the future).

Thanks for you help and input!

for 2300 mah batterys at 1A it would take 2.3 hours to charge. if your charger will handle 8 cells. a good charger is a good investment in this hobby.

they sell packs for some radios, and fasteddys sight has AA chargers for sale as well.

This is the charger we all use for our AA and AAA batteries in our Mini-Z Club.
Not only is it a charger but its a discharger / conditioner as well.

The issue with most chargers like this is you have to charge 2-4-or 8 batteries. With this one you can charge as many or as few as you want. It actually 8 mini chargers in 1. You can even mix sizes.

Charge time from dead to full on AAs is about 3 hours.

I wired a servo plug into my transmitter so I can just charge it with my normal charger.

At first I just used a 150mah wall charger that plugged into the transmitter. Then I bought an actual charger for my receiver packs on my 3 trucks and figured I would try using that charger for the transmitter. The charger is a dynamite prophet plus, but it only allows 1/3/5 amp charge rates and it's really only made for 5-7 cell packs. It charged ok, but it didn't peak high enough. I was only getting about 75% charge.

Then I bought a MRC SuperBrain 959 off a forum and it's rated to charge 1-8 cells. It also allows you to alter the charge current from .5-5A. Charging the cells at .5 seems to work well. Charging them at 1A and the run time isn't nearly as long.

I use duracell (I think) 2400Mah NiMH cells in the transmitter.

I charge my AA's at .4A. That seems to give me the best mix of charging speed without sacrificing run-time.
