Hey, I was wondering if I were to charge 4 AA batteries at a time and they were all different volts in a peak charger (prophet plus) would it fill one battery to the max, then procede with charging all the other batteries up until they max out? Or would it just charge every battery at the same speed until the every battery is at least 1.2 volts? Thanks a lot guys.

I'm not sure, i will stand back on this one and let someone with more expertise chime in.

Its best to discharge all of them first.
Your charger looks at all the batteries as one unit. It will continue to charge ALL the batteries as a pack until they peak as one unit. During this time the one that charges first will continue to charge and heat up causing one or more of the following issues.

It will over heat and weaken the battery. It will cause a false peak and the rest of the batteries wont fully charge, or it could trash the cell (single battery) completely.

If you have a little mag light that uses one or two batterys, plop them in and leave it on until the light goes out. Do this for all of them. If you are using all the batteries in a TX they should discharge at the same, or close to the same speed and there is no need. If you are using them in separate aplacations then discharge them first.

Incase your asking the amount of voltage that you need to charge these little batteries, 1 Amp on that charger!
Anything higher, and you'll smoke the batteries.

yea, I've been doing one amp, and cooling them partway through.
What would you guys say is the best home-ade discharger? I am looking to make one out of lights, or old micellaneous motors. Rather do the lights tho. I would want to drain one battery at a time, so all I want is a red and black wire to connect the ends to.

-what watt of light bulbs?
-how many light bulbs?
-How should I hold them together, Soldering?

or you guys could just post pics of yours, and it would be muchly apprecicated. But remember, I am discharging single AA's at a time. Thanks

Sorry bro. That made me laugh.
It's Home made.

I wouldn't stop the charge, cool the batts, and then charge again, unless they get HOT.
You can keep a fan on them while they charge.
As far as the discharging goes, read what Fasteddy posted above.

Or you can buy one of these.

i dont stop the charge, i just put them in some cold rags and keep the charge going, it helps them cool down.

for the mag light thing,
-about how long would that take?
- and before I finish doing all of my like 10 batteries, wouldnt the light burn out?

thanks for all your help.

Before you start killing us with questions, look up at my last post.
I added a link to a discharging tray.
It does 4 at a time, and has built in fans to keep the batteries cool.
If you want home made, it will take time and some work to discharge.
If you spend a few bucks, life can be made a little easier when it comes to conditioning your batteries.

One more time I will recommend that you discharge them one at a time for the best performance. Use whatever you want to do it. Remember that the individual cells are 1.2v find a discharge source that is as close to that. The more amps it draws the faster it will discharge.

For a home-ade discharger dig through your moms underwear drawer and find a Home ade. If my judgment is correct it should be discharged the next morning. For the best results put them in on a Friday night and spend the night a a friends house. On Sat. when you get home check them, chances are good that they will be ready for a re-charge.
