Ceramic coating piston, Nitriding crank and rod?

Have you even bought a rig yet?

I'd suggest getting the picco 28, the new era leaner BB kit, good side pipe, FOC in the trans (more than likely RRP steel gears to last you), then run it.

I'm pretty sure you will realize that an off the shelf picco in a revo is more power than you will ever need in an offroad basher. I have an LRP28S3 in my revo and it's pretty much uncontrollable until it gets moving. Even then, at the speeds I hit, I run the risk of having a tire blowout on me, and I"m not even geared that tall. Just tall enough that the engine doesn't labor much at WOT in the lawn.

oShort version, start with an unmodified engine to see what it does and how you like it. If you need more, get it mod'd with a polished crank and adjusted timing by one of the companies suggested. My gut says you will not need to take the extreme measures your thinking.

After reading this whole thread again....albeit hastily, I have an idea.
It's an idea I'm going to try this year and I'm pretty sure it will make my revo untouchable.

I'm not sure what brand yet, (maybe a ercm or clockwork picco?) but I'm looking into a modded .21 big block race engine. One that really does rev well over 40,000 rpm. It won't have as much torque as a .28, but with all the extra rpm I can make it up in gearing. Besides, who needs to do a backflip? The idea here is to win races....right?

I think the revo would be a great platform for that.

BTW coatings are primarily for piston skirts and cylinders on ringed engines that are running lots of boost or compression. They do it on piston skirts and cylinders to help compensate for the extra side loading and piston speeds associated with modded ringed engines.

Can someone tell me the exact spec differences between the revo 3.3 and the platinum. This is going to be my first rc truck, and I plan on doing Alot of upgrading, so I am wondering if I should just go straight to the platinum. I am planning on only bashing around, but like I said I plan on doing Alot of upgrading anyways.

Since you haven't gotten an RC vehicle yet, buy it, break it in and learn how to tune it. After that you can ask about upgrades, but so far trying to swap airplane parts, marine parts, superchargers and ceramic coatings is all totally off base.

Haha thanks for all your help guys you have been helpful and I'll tart with getting the revo breaking it in and then seeing about a picco, first things first. I know I let my curiosity get a little ahead of myself but it's always good to start with a plan right. Happy bashing
