Well.. every hobby has its good and bad days. Today was a bad one for my RC hobby!

It was a little wet where I live this morning.. I decided to break the Jato out anyway. Well, she was hard to control on the wet pavement and I needed to have it rolling pretty good before WOT to keep from inducing a spin. About the time I THOUGHT I had this process really mastered.. I took her up to speed nailed it, all was good until a few seconds after the 1-2 shift the car went squirley. I imediately lifted the throttle which caused it to hook while at a sideways angle. At which point it shot directly into a building.. she was probably around 50mph if it truely does 55 top speed.

At my LHS, I turned into a certified RC mechanic.. I tore her down and diagnosed which parts were damaged. Bill was a hare under 50$ using all Traxxas replacement parts.

Parts will be in Wednesday.. so, once I get it together I guess that will tell me if I found everything that is broken. At this point, everything from where the engine mounts and up is off ofthe frame!

Wish me luck, puting her back together...

Sorry dude, I'm with you right there right now. I broke a bunch of parts and keep finding more everyday(Yesterday I found a broke battery box, today I found a cracked electronic box), It just never ends! Sorry to hear about your loss, but it's fun for me tearing it down, kicking it on the floor and then putting it back together! lol

Man thats a bummer, it could have been much worse though . My Rc10Gt handles the same way when I run a set of old bald tires that I bash with sometimes. I can get it to drift for a fairly good distance. But on wet pavement that is a total different kind of animal lol.

I remember hearing something about your Jato being torn up bad.. is yours operational agian? How difficult is it to get them driving right agian after a crash like that?

Well.. after 2 1/2 hrs of scrubing with cloths and a toothbrush.. my Revo looks NEW agian. Sorry, I can't say the same for the Jato tho. LOL it was easier to clean, half of the parts are gone!

What kind of "after run" oil do you guys use.. my LHS told me to use WD40??? That just iono doesn't seem right to use... so I havent been using after run oils at all. Suggestions?

WD-40 is better than nothing... I use typical LHS ARO, but I recently ran out. So, I bought 1:1 automatic trans fluid. Smells and feels the same, but it's a little bit heavier. Seems to work well though. Also smells the same when I first start it as the ARO did.

I use marvel air tool oil. red color, very runny. I usually use a half teaspoon in my 4.6 Savage.
